COVID restrictions

At the moment, Italy Government requires all guests to bring documentation certifying one of the following: (i) first dose of the vaccine received at least 15 days before the event or both doses received; (ii) negative COVID test (molecular or rapid antigen swab test) taken no more than 48 hours before the event.

Guests traveling from the countries of the European Union and the Shengen Area, as well as from Great Britain and Israel, are allowed to enter Italy without compulsory quarantine with a negative swab test. Travellers are required to produce on arrival the certificate for a negative molecular or rapid antigen swab test, taken in the 48 hours prior to arrival in Italy.

Rules for guests traveling from countries other than the ones listed above are still under definition. This section will be constantly updated and you will be notified of any relevant change in due course.

Ahead of the event, you should expect to receive precise indications on the safety measures that will be in place during the event, including temperature testing and use of masks.

Arriving by plane

Milan Malpensa (MXP) and Milan Linate (LIN) are the closest airport options, roughly 45-60 minutes away by car.

From there you can get to Como by train, taxi or rented car (see chapters below).

Arriving by train

Frequent train service connects Como to Milan. Trenitalia trainline provides connections from Malpensa Airport (Malpensa T1 station) or Milan (Milano Centrale station and Porta Garibaldi station) to Como (Como S.Giovanni station). More information can be found at Trenitalia website.

Taxi transfer from Como station needs to be booked in advance. Uber service is not available in this area.

Arriving by car

Driving to Cernobbio is very easy and pleasant, either by fast highway or by scenic mountain roads. “Lago di Como” exit on the A9 motorway from Milan takes you easily to Cernobbio and Como.

Taxis

Take authorized taxis only (the ones bearing a TAXI sign on top with a meter inside). They are usually white and have a taxi identification on the side (e.g., ROMA 33). To call a taxi or make a reservation in Milan, use the phone number +39-028585 or +39-026969. Alternatively, you can send a text message to +39-3338898555 with the text: Milano, address, name. To call a taxi or make a reservation in Como, use the phone number +39-031261515 or +39-031271000. Uber cars and other similar services are usually not available in Italy. Only Uber Black cars can be found quite easily in Milan city center.

Car Rentals

Car rentals are best arranged at the airport and should be booked from your home country. Do not leave luggage visible in your rental car.

Tipping

Most restaurants apply a cover charge (called “coperto”) which is about €2-3 per person. You may add a tip if you wish, however tipping is not required in Italy. Typical tipping is between 2-5% of the bill.

Credit cards, currency exchange and cash

Most businesses accept major credit cards (Visa and Master Card, fewer accept American Express). However, it is recommended to bring some euros for your stay. You can find exchange offices at the airport or in the downtown areas. You can also use ATM (called “bancomat”) to withdraw from your credit card.

Medicines

If you take prescription medicines be sure to bring enough for your stay in Italy. There are pharmacies open from Monday to Sunday. They are marked by green neon signs of the international cross symbol. There are also few 24-hour pharmacies in bigger cities.
