We dug each other

We basically met on Dig - The Dog Person’s Dating App (or something similar). On June 3, 2015, Adam initiated the conversation with a 3 question quiz: Beer or liquor? Usher or R. Kelly? Fruit by the Foot or Fruit Rollups? After Leigh passed the quiz, we dove into a deep conversation about our love for dogs, our craving for Mike’s Pastry cannolis in Boston (see photo), and Leigh’s surprise that a D’Angelo was indeed a bar mitzvah’d Jew. Yes, we’re hopeless romantics.

(Quiz answers: both, both, and both)

Finding true love

We knew we loved each other, but we both found “the one” when we picked Penny out of a box of puppies in June of 2016. She’s truly the love of our lives. Chesweet, super kwazy, and the bestest baby.

Adam proposed

Leigh should have known something special was about to happen. Adam had woken up at 7am on Saturday, September 22 2018 to mow the lawn and clear the yard of leaves - too nervous to sleep in. We drove to our favorite coffee shop, Congregation Coffee in Algiers Point, but Adam suggested we make a quick detour to make fun of an addition to a terrible art installation by the Algiers ferry. We walked up the levee at the Mississippi River bend and saw a photographer walking towards us. Adam swung Leigh around so the New Orleans skyline and river were behind us and said pointedly, “there’s no art installation. That’s our photographer, and I have something to tell you.” Leigh apparently laughed through Adam’s heartfelt speech before saying yes.

We celebrated

After the proposal, Adam had a day of surprises planned. First, on our walk to the the coffee shop, we passed a local pizza restaurant with detailed ‘congratulations Adam and Leigh’ chalkboard signs out front. At Congregation Coffee, our family and friends were waiting for us - some having sneakily flown in from Boston, NYC, and DC. Adam’s Best Man even “surprised the surpriser” by flying in, too. After Bloody Marys and champagne, our group took the ferry to the French Quarter. We hopped between bars where we were joined by more and more friends at each location. We ended the night with the D’Angelos favorite burger place and a dance down Frenchman St.
