La Pescaia

The 16th-century villa has been in the same family since 1522, and is surrounded by stables, olive groves, gardens, and the dreamy Tuscan countryside. Located in Maremma, Italy, it's 90 minutes from Pisa and 120 minutes from Rome and Florence. You can fly into Rome and have a driver take you directly to the villa or make your way slowly through Italy, enjoying the stops along the way.

Below are our recommendations for drivers. The first link is Nick, someone we have used multiple times when touring Italy. He is a great tour guide and private chauffeur. The second link is the best option for getting from Rome to any other city in Italy, including Maremma.

Our Recommendations

We recommend flying into Rome and staying for a few nights, exploring Ancient Rome, the Colosseum, the Vatican, and the Sistine Chapel. Enjoy the local cuisine and walk as much as you can! Our favorite spots are Ancient Rome, this rooftop view , the Trastevere neighborhood, and Piazza Navona.

We highly recommend visiting the Amalfi Coast. The drivers listed above can take you there from Rome on a day trip, or there are many hotels to choose from if you'd like to stay overnight. We recommend visiting the towns of Positano and Amalfi. One of our favorite meals is at the family-owned restaurant, Da Constantino.

Florence is a much smaller city if you do not want to feel too overwhelmed. It is perfect for a one or two-night stay. Our favorite restaurants are Osteria Cinghiale Bianco, Trattoria Il Bargello, and Ristorante Industria. We also recommend touring the Medici Palace and visiting the Uffizi museum.

There are many vineyards in Tuscany where you can take in the magnificent views or schedule a wine tasting
