Rujuta and Naran met in 2013 during freshmen year of undergrad at the University of Pittsburgh. The following summer, they both stayed in Pittsburgh for work and during that time bonded over watching Game of Thrones (which Rujuta has never finished), Rujuta teaching Naran about Harry Potter (which Naran has never finished), and trying new recipes.

Rujuta and Naran grew together and supported each other in college through both fun times and difficult times. Rujuta pursued a Bachelors in Neuroscience and prepared to apply to medical school, enduring the likes of organic chemistry and taking down the dreaded MCAT. Naran initially studied Physics but wasn’t convinced that a scientific career was for him. It would take a lot of soul searching (and switching his major 4 times) before and he finally found something he was passionate about.

After graduation, Rujuta moved to Charlotte, NC while Naran finished up his degree in Pittsburgh. It was their first year of long distance - full of lots of video calls and traveling. Rujuta then moved to Detroit for medical school and Naran moved to Philadelphia to start his first job. Over the next four years, they would see each other for only a weekend every 2-3 months. They were always the best weekends, but saying goodbye never got any easier.

While traveling in Europe in 2018 separately with their families, their tours overlapped in Rome, Italy in front of the Trevi Fountain. Naran’s tour was leaving and Rujuta’s was just arriving. They found each other through a crowd and met for 5 minutes.

In December of 2021, Rujuta went on vacation with Naran’s family to Aruba. While driving them to dinner at a lighthouse, Naran pulled over to a nearby beach and proposed to Rujuta. They celebrated their engagement later that night with Naran's family back at the hotel, and a week later with Rujuta's family in South Carolina.

In May 2022, Rujuta and Naran celebrated their engagement in India. They had a great time shopping in Mumbai and meeting all of Rujuta’s family.

In June 2022, they drove cross country over the course of 5 days from Philadelphia to Detroit, and then to Seattle for Rujuta’s Internal Medicine residency. They took multiple stops along the way, from the Badlands to Yellowstone to Bozeman, Montana. Since moving out west, they have explored the food scene in Seattle, gone on plenty of hikes, and have made trips to San Fransisco and Vancouver. They have also made many trips back to the east coast to visit their loved ones.
