そしてチッペンハム在住のあるイギリス人男子が、ログインと同時に新規ユーザーのプロフを見た。とりあえず彼女にメッセージをしてみる。Luckily for him, he managed to stay as he only guy who wasn't sending creepy/boring messages in her inbox, until one day...he asked her out for a coffee in Oxford. And maybe a movie if they didn't hate each other by the end of their 1st cup of coffee. Guess who ended up exchanging phone number after the coffees and movie :)

We've met about 5~6 times since our first coffee, and also messaged everyday. But it didn't even take us a month until we've both admitted how we felt about each other, and decided to take the next step…yes, crazy how quick this developed. And even crazier that it felt like a span of few months to us, and this conversation took place over WhatsApp. Not even on a phone call!
初めてお茶してからメッセージは毎日していたけれど、実際に会ったのは5~6回だけ。それでも出会ってから1ヶ月も経たないうちに、互いへの気持ちを認めてお付き合いをすることに...展開の速さがヤバ過ぎるよね。同じくらいヤバいのは、私たちの感覚では出会って数ヶ月ぐらいのはずだったことと、お付き合いしようという会話は電話でもなくメッセアプリ上での話だったことでしょうか。Then at the end of the month, a surprise 30th birthday party was planned for a Simon’s high school friend Warwick in their hometown. Simon has decided to bring his girlfriend of 2weeks, to stay at Lewis' flat, and also to join the surprise. Warwick, you were nice enough to hug Otoha to say “I don’t know who you are but thank you for coming to celebrate my birthday!” lol
そしてその月末、サイモンの地元で、高校時代の友人ワーウィックの30歳の誕生日をサプライズでお祝いする計画が持ち上がった。なんと付き合って2週間の彼女を、別の友人ルイス宅へのお泊まりと、サプライズのお祝いに連れて行くことにしたサイモン。ワーウィックはとても優しい男性で、初対面の乙羽に「誰だか知らないけど、俺の誕生日祝いに来てくれてありがとう！」と言いながらハグしてくれました 笑

After the 3months mark, Otoha was introduced to Simon's family. And vice versa, Simon flew into Tokyo with Otoha to attend Otoha's sister Shiho's wedding in July!
3ヶ月経ってから、乙羽をサイモンの家族に紹介。反対に7月には、乙羽の妹である志帆の結婚式に参加するためサイモンも乙羽と一緒に東京へ！Of course we've started to meet each others' friends by this point too. All seemed to be sailing well in our 1st year of dating...
もちろんこの頃には互いの友人達にも紹介し始めたりしていたので、付き合って1年目と考えるとだいぶスムーズにことが進んでいるようだった...
2017 October, just after celebrating the 1st anniversary, Otoha moved back to Tokyo thus started our 5+ years of long distance relationship.
2017年10月、交際1年のお祝いした後に乙羽が東京へ戻ることになり、5年以上の遠距離恋愛が始まった。We messaged everyday, flew over between UK and Japan to see each other at least a couple of times a year. We just never spoke on the phone due to time difference lol
毎日メッセージはしていたし、イギリスと日本間で行き来して年に2回ぐらいは会っていたけれど、時差が面倒だったので電話だけは全くしていなかったかな笑In November 2020, we got engaged while Otoha was in the UK during the national lockdown! We had our "Just Engaged" T-shirts made by Otoha's friends Mayu&Ki-chan, as we already decided to get engaged a few months before that...thanks girls hehe
2020年11月、乙羽が全国規模でロックダウンのイギリスに滞在中に婚約！そしてその数ヶ月前にすでに婚約すると決めていたことを知っていた乙羽の友人、まゆ＆きーちゃんからプレゼントされたTシャツを着て写真撮影...2人ともありがとうwLittle did we know, the pandemic went on for ages, making the Japanese government to be in a complete "sakoku (country lockdown)" mode just like the Edo period...since the necessary paperwork for our marriage required Simon to be physically in Japan, this also meant our marriage was postponed until pandemic is over.
でもその後パンデミックが長引き、日本政府が江戸時代ぶりに事実上の鎖国状態になるとは夢にも思わなかった...結婚の書類はサイモン自身が日本に入国しないと揃わないため、パンデミックが収まるまで結婚は延期することに。So we cannot thank enough to our friends and families in the UK, who gave us the perfect excuse that Otoha can give the immigration/work in those few years to keep flying back to the UK by inviting us to your weddings!
なのでこの数年間、結婚式に招待してくれたイギリスの友人達や家族には感謝してもしきれない！乙羽の入国審査や職場へ伝えられる最高の口実だったし、おかげでコロナ禍でも会い続けられたよ！
In October 2022, Japanese government finally decided to lift the immigration ban so Simon flew into Tokyo. We got the last piece of necessary paperwork from the British Embassy, and officially filed our marriage to the Nerima City Office! Thanks Mayu & Ki-chan for signing our form as the witnesses!
2022年10月、やっと日本政府が外国人の入国を許可したのでサイモンが東京へ。在日英国大使館で最後の書類を揃え、練馬区役所で婚姻届を提出！まゆ＆きーちゃんに、証人欄を記入してもらった。ありがとう！As many of you know it's been a lot of drama since then.....
November 2022, Otoha quit her job in Tokyo and moved to Chippenham.
March 2023, we found out that we were supposed to have applied for the Spouse Visa from Japan not directly to Home Office!
April 2023, Otoha flew back to Tokyo again to reapply for visa.
September 2023, Otoha finally moved to Chippenham but as a legitimate resident this time!
そしてその後の騒々しい状況は皆さんもご存知の通りで......
2022年11月、乙羽が東京での職場を退職しチッペンハムに引越し。
2023年3月、配偶者ビザはイギリスの内務省に直接ではなく、日本から申請すべきだと発覚！
2023年4月、再度ビザの申請をするため乙羽が東京へ戻り。
2023年9月、やっと正式な住民として乙羽がチッペンハムに移住！So hopefully, no more dramas and we are looking forward to seeing as many of you in October to share the special day with :D
なのでもうこれ以上の騒動がないまま、10月の特別な日をできるだけ多くの皆さんと過ごせることを楽しみにしています (^.^)
