Estee and I met at Rice University through Heather. She has her MBA and works for a top real estate company in Houston. She enjoys traveling around the world, exercising including hot yoga, and having dinner and wine with friends. Through the years, she has been a loyal and loving friend. I call her "Mamma Estee" because she is incredibly wise and is always looking out for her friends. She has been with me through the ups and downs of life and I'm so thankful for her. Her love, support and wisdom have helped me become a stronger and more well-rounded woman. She has also been essential in my dating life and never allowed me to lower my standards for a second. We have had so many wonderful adventures together including the time we attended a Real Madrid/juventus soccer match in Italy and stayed at the same hotel as David Beckham. We have been friends for over 15 years now and I can't wait to see what the next 15 have in store for us.
Heather and I have been friends for close to 16 years now. We met our sophomore year at Rice University in Houston, TX. Heather walked up to me in a bathroom during organic chemistry class and complimented me on my "dancing" from a party the night before. A few months later, I walked up to her at the library and invited her to volunteer with me at an after school program for at risk youth. We have been friends ever since. Heather was unlike any girl I had every met and she inspired me beyond description to be the woman I am today. Heather is incredibly loyal, sweet, sincere and is a wonderful friend, mom and wife. We have traveled around the world together including southern France and Italy. She is fluent in French and Italian so is a wonderful travel partner. I still remember walking barefoot along a beach after a night of dancing and sipping on rose while eating escargot in the streets of France. She always makes me feel like I am beautiful, smart and just fabulous. She has her masters in French Studies, her law degree specializing in estate planning and she is now teaching French at the local University in Madison. She has a wonderful husband-Kevin-and 2 adorable sons-Colin and Ryan.
Hilary and I met our first year in medical school. We just seemed to fit and the friendship naturally continued. We were together during some of the most stressful times of our lives but always tried to find a way to enjoy life despite the challenges of our program at WashU. Hilary was a very dedicated student and we spent many evenings at local coffee shops studying anatomy and enjoying beignets. We would then celebrate our occasional night off with a bike ride in a dress and high heels to the central west end area of St. Louis to enjoy food and a glass of wine. Hilary and I are both big foodies and a nice meal was probably our favorite way to spend some money. Hilary is now a practicing memory specialist/Neurologist living in Miami, Florida. She recently just opened up her own private practice in Florida and is the top memory specialist in the state. She is incredibly smart, resilient, beautiful and she is a great friend. She is never afraid to take a risk and do what is right-even if it's never been done before. She is truly one of a kind and is going to change the face of memory care as we know it-I'm sure of it. I'm thankful to have her in my life.
