Charlottesville–Albemarle Airport
This airport is located 8 miles north of downtown Charlottesville and it offers daily non-stop flights to and from six major airports: Charlotte (CLT), Chicago (ORD), Philadelphia (PHL), New York (LGA), Washington D.C. (IAD), and Atlanta (ATL).
We highly recommend you schedule a cab service as Uber / Lyft is not reliable for airport pickups. Please refer to the transportation section for suggested cab companies.
Richmond International Airport
This airport is located ~1 hour from Charlottesville. More flight options are available here if considering a rental car.
Dulles International Airport
This airport is located ~2 hours from Charlottesville. More flight options are available here if considering a rental car.
Rideshare Services & Taxis
Uber and Lyft rideshare services are available throughout the Charlottesville area. Sometimes drivers may not be available to pick up or drop off at certain locations, so be sure to check ahead or schedule your ride. Most local taxi companies also allow you to book online and in advance.

Charlottesville Bus System
The Charlottesville Area Transit bus system serves the city of Charlottesville and Albemarle County six days a week. Travel on all bus routes is free. Most bus routes start and end at Charlottesville's Downtown Transit Station (615 East Water Street) on the East end of the city's Downtown Mall.

Barboursville Vineyards
A magnificent and historic Virginia estate between Monticello and Montpelier, home to Virginia's most honored winery. Producer of Octagon, the most renowned red wine of Virginia.

King Family Vineyards
Farmstead-turned-winery with a tasting room & gourmet food trucks, plus free access to polo games.
Glass House Winery

Hark Vineyards
A family-owned, estate-focused winery focused on the belief that beautiful views and delicious wine can bring people together. The grounds offer ample picnic space, firepits, comfortable patio chairs, and cornhole.
Three Notch'd Brewing Company
Located in downtown Charlottesville, Three Notch'd Craft Kitchen & Brewery serves up locally sourced, beer-infused, gourmet food options as well as Three Notch'd craft beer, cider, wine, craft sodas brewed in house, and signature cocktails in a family friendly inviting atmosphere.
Random Row
Walkable from downtown Charlottesville, Random Row has become known for it's fresh, small-batch, enjoyable beer and it's inviting, family-friendly taproom which hosts a regular schedule of events connecting neighbors and businesses.
Blue Mountain Brewery
Set in the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains of Central Virginia, Blue Mountain opened in 2007 as the region’s first rural brewery. The brewery is child and pet friendly, offering plenty of indoor and outdoor seating.
Bold Rock
Located in Nelson County, is the flagship Bold Rock Cider Barn, known as the ‘Chapel of Apple’ overlooking the Rockfish River. Enjoy award-winning craft hard cider and delicious food from the Bold Kitchen.
Potter's Craft Cider
South of Charlottesville, Potter's makes farmhouse-style hard ciders using local Virginia apples and traditional production methods. These ciders are crisp, tart, and refreshing with a pronounced fruit aroma and a dry finish.
Saunders-Monticello Trail
With native hardwood forest, deep ravines and spectacular views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the trail winds its way toward Monticello and back in a very manageable four miles. Pair this walking trail with a trip to Carter Mountain and Monticello.
Humpback Rocks Trail
The strenuous 700-foot climb rewards hikers with spectacular views of the Rockfish and Shenandoah Valleys. No fee required to access from Humpback Rocks parking area.

Ragged Mountain Natural Area
The Ragged Mountain Natural Area near Charlottesville, Virginia, is a beautiful 980-acre forest with a lake that serves as part of the community water supply and trees.
Seven miles of trail lead through majestic forest, along rugged terrain, and through areas rich with wildlife and offer a unique opportunity for wilderness hiking within minutes of town. There is no fee to enter.
Shenandoah National Park
Less than 40 minutes away, Shenandoah National Park offers cascading waterfalls, spectacular vistas, fields of wildflowers, and quiet wooded hollows. An annual pass ($55) is required to access Skyline Drive, the 105 mile road that runs north and south along the crest of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Hikes listed below are all within the park.
Hawksbill Loop (Shenandoah National Park)
A circuit hike to Shenandoah’s highest peak. The viewing platform on top of Hawksbill offers a magnificent 360-degree view of the Shenandoah Valley, the Blue Ridge Mountains, and the Virginia Piedmont.
Distance: 2.9-mile circuit hike
Difficulty: Moderate
Hiking Time: 2 hour
Elevation Gain: 860 feet
Bearfence Rock Scramble (Shenandoah National Park)
Bearfence is an exhilarating rock scramble that leads to a magnificent 360-degree view of the Virginia Piedmont and Shenandoah Valley.
Distance: 1.4-mile round trip hike
Difficulty: Moderate
Hiking Time: 1 hour
Elevation Gain: 311 feet
Dark Hollows Falls (Shenandoah National Park)
The steep descent following a stream to this beautiful waterfall is one of the Park’s most traveled trails. This trail is short, but very steep and rocky.
Distance: 1.4-mile circuit hike
Difficulty: Moderate
Hiking Time: 1 hour 15 minutes
Elevation Gain: 440 feet
Chimney Rock (Shenandoah National Park)
An out-and-back hike to Chimney Rock, an excellent viewpoint with some very interesting geological features.
Distance: 3.4-mile circuit hike
Difficulty: Moderate
Hiking Time: 2 hours 30 minutes
Elevation Gain: 830 feet
Carter Mountain Orchard
Just minutes from downtown Charlottesville and Monticello, Carter Mountain overlooks lush groves and breathtaking views of the valley below. The market offers delicious apple cider donuts and fresh picked fruit that you can also pick yourself!
Thomas Jefferson's Monticello
Monticello, “Little Mountain,” was the home from 1770 until his death in 1826, of Thomas Jefferson. It serves as an architectural masterpiece. Monticello is a big, beautiful, thought-provoking place. It is strongly recommended to purchase tickets in advance as many of the house tour options sell out early.
IX Park Farmers Market
The city farmers market runs every Saturday morning with over 60 local vendors selling local fresh produce, prepared foods, artisan goods, and more. Located adjacent to Three Notch'd Brewery, enjoy a brunch and beer flight after shopping!
Charlottesville Historic Downtown Pedestrian Mall
The Downtown Mall in Charlottesville, Virginia is one of the longest pedestrian malls in the United States. The Downtown Mall is a vibrant collection of more than 120 shops and 30 restaurants housed in historic buildings along the city's Main Street.
