Update & Travel Guidelines - 8/8/21

Travel into Italy

Travel into Italy is still similar from our last update. If vaccinated, pre-arrival testing is not required if you are traveling from the US. Travelers will need proof of vaccination (CDC vaccination card). The requirements comply with Italy's "Green certificate." You do not need a separate Green certificate or pass as a US citizen, your vaccination card is sufficient.

- All travelers must also fill out a passenger locator form prior to departure. Your airline should have these details.
Your documents will be reviewed at the airport prior to boarding your flight
- If you are connecting in or traveling through a city outside of the US, please confirm testing requirements based on your connection location & airline, as some European cities require tests for entry.

Travel back to the US

Proof of a negative rapid antigen or PCR test is required for international travelers returning into the US within 72 hours of your flight departure.

Testing Options:

- There are an abundance of testing options in Italy, and we had no problem getting them at pharmacies recommended by our hotel. We recommend working with your hotel to schedule a rapid test appointment. You will get tested at the pharmacy and receive your test results while you are there. We recommend allotting 20 - 30 mins per person being tested. If you need an option near the venue, we used the following pharmacy:
Farmacia Sant'elena
Via delle Terme Sud, 21, 53045 Sant'Albino SI, Italy
+390578798069

- Alternatively, there is also a rapid at-home kit from Ellume in partnership with Azova that you can take with you to Italy that has been approved for US international travel re-entry requirements. You download an app, schedule an observation call to execute your test, and you do a video chat with a nurse to administer the test from your hotel room. You can order the test here to bring with you on your trip & see the detailed instructions: www.ellumecovidtest.com/travel

And as always, it's always a good idea to get travel insurance just in case!

While in Italy

As of 8/6/21, Italy is requiring proof of vaccination for some social activities (e.g. indoor dining). For US citizens, the CDC vaccination white card is sufficient. For EU citizens, this is via the Green Certificate or Green Pass. You do not need a separate green pass if you are a US citizen with a CDC vaccination card. Please note that masks are also required indoors. See below for the full details:

Effective August 6, 2021, the “Digital Green Certificate/Green Pass” will be necessary to access some locations and participate in certain social activities such as: indoor seated dining at restaurants and bars, museums, exhibitions, cultural sites, sporting events, swimming pools, gyms, concerts, fairs, conferences, amusement parks and other venues. The Italian Ministry of Health issued an ordinance on July 29, 2021 stating that an Anti-COVID-19 vaccination certificate for an European Medicines Agency (EMA) recognized vaccine from competent U.S. health authorities (CDC “white cards”) will be considered the equivalent of the Italian Green Pass where this requirement exists. Alternatively, you can provide a negative molecular PCR or rapid antigen test result taken within 48 hours before entering a restaurant/museum etc. or a medical certificate issued by competent US authorities confirming recovery from COVID within the previous 6 months. Certificates are accepted in Italian, English, Spanish or French and can be both digital or in paper copy.

Events

First, we are so thankful for everyone that will be able to attend. We know that it is not an easy trek for anyone, and we truly appreciate it!

We encourage everyone to settle in and plan to be in the area for all of the wedding events. Because of the long weekend, we are planning to use the property throughout and will be staying through Monday. We understand if your travels will take you elsewhere after the wedding day, but please feel welcome to stay and continue the vacation!

Getting There

Based on the current Italy travel guidelines, we recommend flying into Rome (FCO).

However, you can travel to our venue by flying into Florence or Rome.  Florence airport is about 1hr 40 mins and Rome airport is 2 hours from our venue.

We recommend renting a car and driving from either airport. You'll want a car once you arrive in the area to get around and explore. There are many cute hilltop towns nearby!

Please also keep in mind that some of the roads near the venue are dirt roads and not fully paved. We promise it's quaint :) !
