covid protocol

WHAT COVID-19 SAFETY PROTOCOL WILL BE IN PLACE?

- The capacity at our new venue is 50. We're asking all confirmed guests to get vaccinated before traveling.
- All events through the weekend will take place outdoors.
- All rooms at the resort have outdoor entrances (there are no hallways or enclosed, shared spaces).
- Our vendors will be wearing masks and following strict safety protocol.
- Ideally, we won't need to mandate masks and distancing for guests but that will depend on the circumstances as we get closer.
- Sanitizer and PPE will be readily available.

We are keeping up with variant and vaccine research and will continue to adjust our plans accordingly.

Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

re-re-save the date!

WHY ARE YOU POSTPONING?

Having been engaged for two years, waiting one more with the hopes of maintaining a semblance of the day we dreamed of seems to be the best call. When we got engaged, we broke the news by telling everyone, "we're having a party!" And while this is the biggest and most expensive party we've ever planned... that's exactly what it is, a party. And a delayed party is better than a sick loved one!

The wedding will now be Friday, October 8th, 2021. We postponed again given recent vaccine news and the hope that we'll be further along in that process over the next few months.

WHY DID THE LOCATION CHANGE?
We tried for a year to re-schedule with Nakoma but they were unwilling to uphold our contract. We had other vendors contracted and still dreamed of celebrating in Tahoe, so we found a different venue. Our ceremony will be at Sardine Lake Resort, the place we go every Memorial Day and got engaged. The reception and our accommodations will be at Sierra Pines Resort.

WHAT'S NEXT?

Most importantly, stay healthy.

We have a very limited capacity (less than 1/2 our original guest list) at the new venue so unfortunately, we can only invite our closest friends and family. We are doing our best to find a streaming solution for those that cannot attend (there is no service in the area).

If you are invited to the smaller event, we have spoken to you personally you and have re-opened the RSVPs on our website. We love you and we understand if your RSVP is a no or needs to change at any time due to the impact of the pandemic.

our favorite place

WHY TAHOE?

Once you arrive, you will quickly see exactly why we chose to get married here. The stunning views... the fresh mountain air... the opportunity for adventure at every turn... it's indescribable, you'll have to experience it for yourself!

Being from different states, living on the other side of the continent from those states and having built our life in California, we knew that regardless of where we were married, most of our guests would be traveling. So, why not chose a place that we could turn into a mini vacation for our loved ones? A place that offered enough space and activities, that we could spend a long weekend with our family and friends creating new cherished memories.

Just a few hours from San Francisco, we travel here often throughout the year. Tahoe is our place. We have come here for Tough Mudders, Spartan racing, skiing, snowboarding, quick weekend getaways and holidays with friends. We were engaged at Sardine Lake on our annual Memorial Day Weekend trip to Sierra City in 2018.

We chose a location that was meaningful to both of us, a place we wanted to invite our loved ones to experience with us. We know that Tahoe will always be a part of our story and after our wedding, it will be that much more special.

HOW DO I GET THERE?

Check out the "TRAVEL + ADVENTURES" section on this website for information for flights, airport shuttles, hotels, parking and more.

packing

WHAT SHOULD I PACK?

On Thursday evening, at our Welcome Party, we are incorporating two of Jax's favorite things - tiki and karaoke. So you are encouraged to wear floral or tiki attire. :)

For general packing, it’s impossible to predict the weather in the mountains, so please pack for fall and summer conditions. During October, temperatures in the area typically range from 40 - 75 degrees, rain is unlikely but possible. Most of the events will have indoor options, but the ceremony and reception dinner are planned for outdoors, so consider bringing layers. In the event of rain, we have a full contingency plan.

Sierra City has quite a bit to offer! If you plan to explore the area, pack your athletic gear and sneakers. Plus a bathing suit for a dip in the Yuba River!

altitude

WHAT SHOULD I KNOW ABOUT THE HIGH ALTITUDE?

If this is your FIRST time to Tahoe, please be aware of the effects of the high altitude (Sierra City is at 4,150 feet). It may take a day or two for your body to adjust.

Rest and stay extra hydrated - know that alcoholic beverages will definitely impact you differently than at sea level.

We want everyone to have an amazing time and avoid illness.

communications

IS THERE CELL PHONE SERVICE?

Cell phone service in the area can be tricky, you'll be able to connect via WiFi while at the property but you will not have service in the immediate area. We recommend loading the map of your destination before departing from or to Sierra Pines Resort.

wedding attire

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO THE CEREMONY?

The ceremony and reception will be outside so we do encourage you to bring a sweater or jacket in case it is chilly. In the event of rain, we do have an indoor contingency plan.

The ceremony is on grass, please consider that if you plan to wear heels.

This will be a formal, classy occasion! Please dress accordingly.

menu

WHAT’S FOR DINNER?

At the reception, we will ensure that we have a variety of options (for our vegan and gluten free friends!). If you have a different and specific dietary concern or allergy, please message us and we will do our best to accommodate!

dranks

IS THE RECEPTION OPEN BAR?

DUH.

plus ones

CAN I GET A PLUS ONE?

No. We have very limited capacity at our venue. All invitees were sent personal invites, please do not bring any unexpected guests.

kids

ARE MY KIDS WELCOME?

While we adore our young nieces, nephews and cousins - this is an adult only  (14+) ceremony and reception.

If you need to bring a furry child, please talk to Jax and Jon ahead of time as pets are limited at the resort.

dogs

ARE PETS WELCOME?

Sierra Pines Resort is pet friendly!

There is a $30/pet stay for the stay. They ask dogs to stay on leash and not be left unattended in rooms. The meadow across the street is a great place to play! Please clean up after your pet.

Dogs are not allowed in the restaurants so unfortunately no pups at the ceremony and reception!

rules

WHAT ARE THE RULES?

Any alcohol you bring is only allowed in your room.

There is no smoking indoors. You can smoke in the meadow across the street from Sierra Pines Resort but there is no smoking at Sardine Lake.

surnames

WILL JAX CHANGE HER LAST NAME?

YES! Jax and Jon are excited to share the same surname and, well, Burke is easier to spell than Colavolpe. Though they are now legally married, Jax is going to wait until the big celebration in 2021 to make the switch.

entertainment

WHAT IS THERE TO DO IN TAHOE?

There is no shortage of fun to be had on and off the property - bars, restaurants, activities, casinos, hikes and more. There is a list of recommendations for dining and adventures in the "TRAVEL + ADVENTURES" section on this website!
