I've always been a Daddy's girl but as I've gotten older my relationship with my Dad has become far more special to me! My Dad has become one of my "Best Buddies" over my teen and adult years. Throughout my life he has been one of my biggest encouragers and supporters. Something super special about our relationship is how I know I can always rely on him. Over the past 4 years of nursing school I have called him after every exam to process it, and even if I don't feel as though I did well I know he will encourage me. He has shown me what it means to be a faithful leader in the home and has consistently pushed me in my faith to help me grow and mature. My Dad and I are extremely close, and over the years one of my favourite things to do with him has been going on our weekly Father Daughter Dates to the grocery store because we are a perfect team. I also have loved going to the shooting range and on motorcycle rides with him. I am beyond lucky to have this close of a relationship with my Dad and I thank him for showing me what it means to be loved and cherished my a Christian man and for pushing me to pursue my dreams and goals!
My mom has always been someone I admired growing up. I have learnt a lot from my mom, but the way she is so selfless and caring is definitely what sticks out the most. Ever since I could remember, mom would always put me and my siblings first. It didn't matter what we were doing or where we were in life, mom made sure that we were happy. One of my earliest and favourite memories with my mom is from when I was 4yrs old. We would drive in to town to run errands and always blast Backstreet Boys. Mom has always been the type of person that has had a fun side to her too. Not only did she take me to Scotland where it was just the two of us; but she also enticed the whole family to have a big marshmallow fight in a 5 star restaurant. I can say with confidence that my mom has to be one of the most genuine and selfless mothers out there and I can't thank her enough for everything she has done and taught me in life.
Growing up I always loved spending time with my dad. From a young age he gave me the nickname "partner" because I would always follow him around the farm asking how I could help him. He would always give me basic chores to complete and even though I probably did them wrong we always had fun. I've always been told that my dad is one of the most patient guy's ever, and looking back at my childhood that couldn't be more true. It didn't matter if I was learning to ride a bike or I was too chicken to go on a roller coaster, he always had so much patience with me. One of my favourite memories with dad would be all the years he spent coaching me in hockey. It was so cool to go back to the bench after I scored a goal and get a high five from my dad.
Kendra and I have been Best Friends and practically inseparable for the last 3 years. We met on Easter Sunday at a church friend's family dinner because both of our parents were out of town. She enjoys any form of adventure as long as it means getting outside. We love eating Ben and Jerry's Ice cream, watching chick flicks, hiking, suntanning, doing water sports, camping, and snowshoeing together. Our clothes typically match and if you didn't know better you would think we were sisters... She just moved to Peace River to pursue her career as a Primary Care Paramedic!
Makayla and I met at a young adults group 5 years ago and have been close ever since. She is one of the most gracious and caring individuals I know. We love spending time together exploring, taking pictures and documenting them on our instagram page “Makatie”, going on picnics, studying for our university programs, baking, laughing, and having deep conversations over a cup of tea and cookies. She is currently in her last year of Psychology at UofC and is in the process of finishing her Thesis for her honours program!
Jenn and I have been close friends for the past 10 years and have enjoyed all forms of tackling sports together. She is one of the toughest ladies I know and is a beast at rugby, wrestling and rowing (so if you need someone to protect you she’s your gall). She also makes the most delicious baked goods! She is currently at Queen’s university pursing her Masters in Business!
Alexis is Connor's sister and we have gotten to know each other quite well over the last year and a half through long drives to GP, bonding over television shows, walking around the mall shopping, and just overall spending time together. She has an amazing heart for serving the Lord and every young child that meets her adores her! She is currently finishing her last year at Ambrose to get her Ministry Assistant Diploma!
Caleb is Katie's older brother and we have gotten to know each other over the last year and a half whenever we are both in Calgary. He enjoy's a lot of the same things I enjoy like physical activity, shooting guns, or else anything outdoors. Caleb graduated from military college in Kingston Ontario with his Chemical Engineering degree and is currently working in Edmonton as a Project Manager for CEDA.
