FROM CONNOR
Our story is a bit of a unique one because we did not meet the old fashioned way but rather a millennial way. Back in the spring of 2017, Katie had gotten Facebook for her Nursing Field School and had seen my name come up as a "Friend Suggestion." When she realized we had 20+ mutual friends from a Christian Young Adults group she clicked on my name to see if she knew me. It was then she realized she didn't know me, but she thought I was, in her words, "really good looking." So she decided to try and find me on Instagram instead of adding me on Facebook (not creepy at all). From there I went onto Instagram to see that this girl named "Katie Shaw" started following me. I was a bit confused because I never recognized her, but we had a lot of mutual friends and I thought she was cute, so I decided to follow her back. Later that day she posted a photo on instagram. Still curious about her I devised a plan. I told myself I would "like" her photo and then post a photo the next day. If she "liked" it then I would send her a message. Sure enough, she liked my photo after I posted one! I knew the scary part was next, "sliding into the D.M's." I planned what I was going to say that whole morning. I found the courage to finally send her a message on Instagram, and that's where we first started talking. Within a couple hours she gave me her number, and that's when things really took off. A week later we talked on FaceTime and that went so well that we talked for 5 hours straight! A couple weeks went by of texting and phone calls when I finally had the chance to go down to Calgary. We went on our first official date on April 23rd, 2017... and the rest is history.

FROM KATIE
We got engaged this summer on August 19th in Seattle. Connor and I had made plans back in December to go there as a little summer getaway. We both love to travel, and Connor has extended family that live in Seattle, so we thought it would be a perfect opportunity for me to meet them and for him to reconnect. I remember being so excited after Connor called me one night telling me he had confirmed with his family we could stay with them...our Seattle trip was officially a go! Little did I know that Connor had been devising a plan with his family for us to get engaged there. They apparently made lots of suggestions to him, and he chose the one that he thought would be the perfect fit for our special moment... THE GREAT WHEEL AT SUNSET (my favourite time of day)!! He purchased VIP tickets which meant we got t-shirts, two green-screen photos (that turned out terrible), slushies, our own cart with comfy chairs that could play music, and 3 rotations. As we went around I could tell he was nervous but I just thought it was because he doesn't love heights, little did I know he was going to propose! Towards the end of our second rotation as I was looking out the window at the sunset he got down on one knee, I turned around and began sobbing because I was so excited and in shock! The moment you dream of as a little girl where your Prince Charming gets down on one knee was happening to me!! Connor is my Best Friend and I was so excited to say YES through all my tears!August 19th, 2019 at 8:30pm will always be a moment I remember!!
