Emma and Jaelyn met one evening at a local Edmonton Denny's and their friendship immediately kicked off! Over the last 5-6 years, Emma and Jaelyn have been a constant in each other's lives. With both of them have strong personalities, there have been such strong and memorable highs in their friendship. They have overcome obstacles together, cried together, laughed together, and just overall, have grown together.
To this day, Emma and Jaelyn, joined by Connor and Mackenzie (now Miss Bev!), will frequent Denny's to just catch up. Emma could not be any happier or honored to have Jae stand beside her as she marries Connor. Having such a wise, strong, and loving friend beside her on this whirlwind of a journey is a privilege, and Emma wouldn't have it any other way.
Robyn is one of Connor's sister but quickly grew into Emma's sister as well. I mean, they look so much a like already! As soon as Emma met Robyn, she knew that Robyn was kind, caring, funny, and has a genuinely warm heart.
Robyn and Emma have been to many paint nights together (they aren't that bad! They are even hung in our homes!), they tried a really fun calligraphy class together and have made some new baking recipes.
Emma is beyond happy to have Robyn stand beside her while she becomes a part of the family.
Aretha has been close friends with Emma for over 13 years. They met one fateful day when they ended up both standing at a bus stop waiting to be picked up. Aretha thought Emma was nerdy because she was wearing glasses. Stereotypes brought them together as sisters.
Weird facts:
- they lived on the same street in Calgary. Aretha's house number is 3402 and Emma's house number is 3240.
- Emma opened her first (secret) MSN and Facebook account at Aretha's house.
- Aretha got a cell phone before Emma and Emma liked it so much she got the same one a few years later.
Connors longtime best friend and bandmate, matching tattoos and all. They've logged tens of thousands of hours together on the stage, the rehearsal space, and in front of the TV.
Brennan is an incredibly hard-working, giving, and talented friend. Connor and Emma are honoured to have been able to know and even share a home with Brennan for a time, and now they are happy to share their special day with someone who plays such a big role in their lives.
Lanny is Emma’s brother and Connor's soon-to-be brother-in-law. A lover of all things Maple Leafs, graphic tees, and wacky socks. Connor and Lanny have bonded and become close friends after plenty of Shoesmith vacations to Hawaii, Kelowna, Ontario, and Golden - just to name a few. Lanny is a hockey aficionado (probably due to his namesake being Lanny MacDonald) and a great companion to help Connor pick on Emma as needed. They say when you marry your wife you marry her family, and if that’s the case Connor and Lanny won’t mind being brothers one bit.
If you’ve ever met Ben, you’ll immediately understand why he’s one of Connor's closest friends. They spent 2 years together as YoungLife leaders and quickly realized all the things they had in common. They shared a love for music, long road trips to BC, and even a few birthday parties. They’ve logged many hours together talking about the new Frank Ocean and Bob Iver albums, among plenty of other artists. Ben is not only a great concert and movie companion, but he’s also an incredible person to have a conversation with. He’s a “laugh until you cry” and “cry until you laugh” kind of friend. Don’t be surprised if you even see a few tears from him on the wedding day.
