Love at First Swipe
Think back to August 2020... COVID is in full force and Austin has just reopened from the shelter-in-place mandate. Both of us are swiping on Bumble without any expectations. For those who don't know, Bumble is a dating app that requires the girl be the first person to initiate contact.
Between Chris and Tedi, let's just say there was no shortage of online dating horror stories. But this time it was different... a Friday night swipe led to an evening of easy banter. Sunday we met for drinks and calamari at The Park and the rest is history.
The screenshot is a text between Tedi and her sister Lauren after the first date. They say when it comes you will just know... :)
The Proposal
Chris proposed at the lot where our new house is being built, in Cedar Creek, TX. The day started out a bit rocky as one of our dogs was sick and we were (cough) a bit sick ourselves after a wild country concert the night before. However, Chris was able to pull off an amazing surprise and popped the question under the guise of a mandatory developer meeting to review our construction plans. Spoiler alert - there was no meeting.
We then celebrated with dinner at our favorite Austin restaurant, Hestia, and surprise drinks with 'The Boys' to close out a perfect night. Tedi (as you might expect) was a very difficult during the planning process and required lots of changes to the plan and accomplices to pull off the surprise proposal.
