It was a warm summer night and I remember being online and seeing this fine guy in my inbox. I thought to myself, damn he's cute! :-) When he first reached out I just thought it was harmless flirting. While talking we found out that we grew up in the same neighborhood literally walking distance from each other. We eventually exchange numbers, I gave him the run around but once we finally met it was closer to the end of June. Never in a million years neither of us would’ve thought we would have a family, engaged and husband and wife. It was his birthday and I wanted to celebrate something special between the two of us while taking him to a nice restaurant for the evening. Marquis had a way of making me feel comfortable, Our first few outings together were in a group. I liked it that way because it took some pressure off of me, I was nervous!!
Marquis had to leave to go overseas for his second season and I was scheduled to visit in October due to a medical emergency. The surgery did push back my birthday plans of going to Israel to visit Marquis. We had such an amazing time! Israel is beautiful and I can’t wait to go back one day. Shortly after I left, Marquis came home and he met my father for the first time in person. Prior to meeting they had facetimed several times. My father kept expressing to me how much of a great guy Marquis is and how it really warmed my heart. We went on this amazing family trip to Jamaica, ocean waves, bamboo boat rides and great company where Marquis surprised me in front of my entire family and proposals. Fast forward to today we have built such a beautiful life together. Marquis is my best friend and It's never a dull moment with us. I feel my most authentic self when I’m with him and I couldn’t imagine doing life with anyone else.
