Q + A
A: For the wedding: Cocktail! Our event will take place outdoors so please keep that in mind - google says the weather in May is a high of 85 and a low of 71, on average.
There are a couple of restaurants at the resort that have a dress code for dinner - men must wear long pants and collared shirts. However, the rest of the resort does not have a dress code. There are 5-7 restaurants without a dress code.
For the welcome party: casual
For the Catamaran: bring a jacket or sweatshirt! It gets chilly on the ocean.
A: If you've booked through the travel agent, we will have transportation arranged for you. Make sure to send your flight itinerary to the Travel Agent by April 1st!
A: - After you pickup your luggage from baggage claim, follow the signs to the transportation area. The transportation people will be waiting for you outside. Between the baggage claim area and the outside, there's a little section of the airport where vendors sit - DO NOT TALK TO THESE PEOPLE! They are not bad people, they're actually suuper nice, but they will try to sell you excursions, special packages, and TIME SHARES. EW! TIMESHARES!! Josh and I have fallen for their tricks before... don't do it! Just say "no thank you" or let them know you're not interested and KEEP WALKING UNTIL YOU GET OUTSIDE. Once you're outside, you'll be able to find our arranged transportation.
- Keep your passport in an easily accessible spot while in the airport, but make sure it's secure.
- Leave your fancy jewelry at home. I think this is best practice when traveling internationally.
- When you arrive in Mexico, the airline will give you 1-2 forms to fill out for customs. Keep these form(s) until you get back home into the US! You need them both for the arrival in Mexico and the return home to the US.
A: We chose Mexico for so many reasons. For starters, it's gorgeous, it's centrally located and accessible to our guests coming from all over, and our resort is all inclusive! One of our biggest goals for the wedding is to spend time with our friends and family since we don't get to see you often, so having everyone stay at the same resort is ideal because this way we can spend time together and make memories. (heart)
A: Yesssss! It is all inclusive!
The only additional expenses you may incur, but all are up to you, are:
- tipping the staff around the resort - at the restaurants, spa, housekeeping, etc (optional but I think it's important to show appreciation for the hardworking staff!)
- snacks/food/drinks at the airport (you know Chelsea is always pro-snacks)
- any additional excursions you may sign up for (IE: anything off resort premises is not included in the trip costs)
- special bottle service you may request (okay, boujie! :) )
A: We love ALL of your children, however we have decided to make the wedding ceremony and reception an adults-only celebration. We want you to take a night off and enjoy the party!
Kids are welcome at the resort! Secrets/Dreams Bahia Mita includes some family friendly sections/restaurants, and some adults only sections/restaurants. It's a beautiful resort and has something for everyone!
Please let us know if you want to bring your kiddos and need assistance thinking of supervision options for them for the day of the wedding.
A: Please check your save the date/invite for your +1 status! We live by the saying 'the more the merrier', but our venue does have space restrictions. It's your vacation so you're welcome to bring friends along; however, the wedding festivities are reserved for those only included on your save the date/invitation. Please don't hesitate to ask us if you're unsure!
A: We've booked a private sunset cruise on a catamaran the day after the wedding. If you're down with boats, we'd love for you to join us, kids included! It will include food, drinks, and fun activities like snorkeling, fishing, lily pads, etc.!
If you're not, there's plenty to do at the resort, and there are some other excursions you can book too, if you're interested! There's golf, zip lining, water sports/activities, surfing, stand up paddle boarding, etc. There's also a spa with massages... ;) Chillin at the resort is also an amazing option as well.
