About Antigua
With the cobblestone streets, vibrant walls, colonial ruins, and the towering Volcanoes; you can’t help but fall in love with Antigua. Leave room in your suitcase for fantastic coffee, traditional blankets, jade jewelry, and woven textiles.
We are working with Antigua Tours to ensure you have the opportunity to see more of Antigua and Guatemala, as your schedule and budget allows. These are some of the tours we have arranged with them to offer at a discounted rate for our wedding guests:
- Coffee Plantation Tour: Guatemala offers some of the best coffee around the world, particularly coffee from this region.

- Guided Cultural Walking Tour of Antigua
- Lake Atitlán day trip: Depending on how much time you will be in Guatemala, this is a must. Beautiful lake surrounded by volcanoes and small artisan towns that can only be reach by lake
. 2.5hrs from Antigua.

Apart from these, there's a ton of things to do in Antigua.
- Cerro de la Cruz Hike
- Visiting textile and jewelry markets across town
- Relax at a spa or some yoga
The currency in Guatemala is called Quetzal, also referred to as "Q's". Our best tip would be to get Q's from your bank in the US or exchange in your Hotel (if an option).
Also getting Q's out of the ATM once you arrive in Guatemala could be a great option!
Do not forget to notify your bank you will be using your card outside of the US.
Traveling to Guatemala:
Guatemala only requires a negative covid test to enter, only if you have not been fully vaccinated. If you are vaccinated, don't forget to bring your vaccine card.
Traveling back to the USA:
Despite being fully vaccinated, the US still requires a negative covid test to re-enter. We would recommend booking your appointment at the Antigua Blue Medical Testing Center. You can book online - but we recommend paying for the test during your appointment.
Please keep in mind that it is closed on Sundays.
We did recently hear that there is a self test which is approved by some airlines. In case you wanted to look into that more: BinaxNow
Recommended Travel Dates: August 18th - 22nd
Guatemala only has 1 international airport called La Aurora - Airport code GUA. Flights will range from $300-$600 depending on where you are flying from and how soon you book your flight.
As you plan your trip, please consider Antigua, Guatemala is about 1 hour from Guatemala City. We recommend not flying in too late at night or flying out too early in the morning due to traffic in the city and ease of transportation.
You might be able to arrange transportation from Guatemala City to Antigua directly with your accommodations. However here are a few transportation methods we recommend. They are private and safe, instead of having to arrange your shuttle service upon arrival.
Antigua Tours - We are working with Antigua Tours to make sure you have a great time in Guatemala. They would be thrilled to arrange your transportation from the airport to Antigua. And from your hotel to the airport.
You should also be good to use your Uber app, both from the airport to Antigua as well as in Antigua.
