Rehearsal Dinner Dress Code

As is usually the case with weddings, we will be hosting a rehearsal dinner the night prior to the wedding, where we will practice eating and drinking, just in case our centuries of combined experience doing so doesn’t suffice.

To ensure we look more organized and adult than we actually are, there will be a dress code we would like everyone to follow for this dinner, namely ‘smart casual’.

The name is wildly unhelpful so here’s a quick guide: Whilst we insist everyone wears clothing of some sort as minimum standard, the dress code itself is not too oppressive. With the blokes wearing button up shirts, jackets (if the Italian summer allows it) and nice pants of some sort like chinos, slacks or what have you, and the women wearing a hot-to-trot dinner dress, skirt or jumpsuit, we are sure to maintain the illusion of maturity until at least after the main course.

Wedding Day Dress Code

Believe it or not, the ceremony itself also requires attendees to be wearing clothing as a bare minimum. We need to strap up a wee bit more than the rehearsal dinner because it’s a wedding and not an 18th century Victorian sweatshop.

As such, the dress code will be ‘semi-formal’, which means to dress formal, but also don’t. To help those not bourgeois enough to know what this means (and to be fair, we had to Google this ourselves), the ladies will wear fancy/nice dresses but no floor-length required.

For the men, primarily because fashion has no logic even in European summers, they will need to wear full suits, including jacket and ties. Much like the rule for the ladies’ attire, neither the jacket nor the tie must be floor length.
