In the fall of 2004, we started the same High School in the beautiful city Nanjing, China. One day after school, Li saw a girl playing basketball with her friends. He fell in love at first sight. Soon after that, Ziwei learned there was a boy, Li Yin, who had a crush on her and told the whole school about it. We passed by each other quite a few times at High School, but never shared a word. After High School graduation, Li sent a text message to Ziwei and started the conversation, which never ended.
We started the relationship in the summer of 2010. At that time, we were in different countries, China and Italy. We had no clue how this long distance relationship would end up or when we would finally be in the same city again. However, we were young, fearless, and in love.
Between the years 2014 and 2017, we were living on different coasts and flew more than 40 times to see each other. We visited many incredible places during this journey and became the better half for each other.
On Jan 31, 2017, we finally moved in together. We ended our six and half years long distance relationship. Since we moved in together, we always appreciated that we didn't have to go to the airport on Sunday night and we could see each other every day after work. That was an amazing feeling. So many people have asked us "how did you do it?" Sometimes we are even amazed by what we have done. To be honest, it was not easy at all. Learning about ourselves and chasing our dreams helped us grow together. We cherished every moment we spent together and shared everything with each other. We became two independent individuals who built a relationship together. We enjoy both the time we spend together and the time we are apart.
The summer of 2017, Li finally asked the question in front of the family and friends at Rancho Valencia. It was a surprise for Ziwei. She said Yes with all her heart. It was an emotional day. It is the beginning of the next journey we are exploring together.
