Flight and Transfer Info

Getting to Varna

Varna Airport (VAR) is possibly the worlds best airport (with an ace outside bar in departures) it's situated just 8 km west of the city centre.

There are easy bus and taxi connections to the city centre and resorts. There is a £1 shuttle bus between Varna Airport and Varna city centre.

Airlines and destinations - connections are mostly seasonal (the list below is not full, you're best off searching on Skyscanner.net):

Wizz Air (London Luton) (Cheapest Option)

Bulgaria Air (Amsterdam, Dublin, London-Gatwick, Sofia,)

Thomsonfly (East Midlands, London-Gatwick, Manchester)

Ryanair (Brussels South)

Another route is to fly into Burgas (BOJ). There are three options to get from Burgas to Varna: by bus, plane, or taxi (private transfer). The trip by bus takes 2 hours 40 minutes, the ticket cost is EUR 10. The plane will take you to the destination in only 20 minutes, and you will have to pay for that from EUR 38 (but the flight departs once in two days). A taxi or a private transfer Burgas-Varna will get to the destination in 1 hour 40 minutes, the journey will cost from EUR 65 for 1-3 people and EUR 75 for 4-5 people. The distance is 130 km.

The journey by the bus Burgas-Varna is cheap, but this route is quite difficult. First, you need to get to the bus station by bus which doesn’t operate at night (the last journey is at 6:00 p.m.). As for the plane, this travel option is the fastest, however there are only four flights a week – they depart early in the morning. You should buy plane tickets in advance, especially in high season. There is no direct rail connection between these cities as they are on the coast.

Ако идвате през Бургас не забравяйте, че Варна е по-добрият град :)

Getting Around Varna

Public Transport and taxi info

If you're staying in the centre, there should be no need to to take public transport except if you fancy a trip to the surrounding towns, beaches, golf courses or other. If you're staying in the tourist suburbs of Varna, you can come to the centre by bus, by trolleybus, by a rented car.

On foot

There is a pedestrian area and a coast area with a lot of fun for the tourists. There you can get around by foot.

By bus

Thanks to Varna municipal passenger transport - you can go from one place to another with the public transport. The city has more than 40 bus lines, the ticket price for each one is 1.00 BGN (leva) or £0.46 . Almost every point of the town can be reached with the municipal transport. Tickets can be bought at the conductor inside the bus, he/she will come around and collect the fare. It might be necessary to pay 1 лв extra per trip for big luggage.

By taxi

Taxis are generally cheap and the preferred form of transport but be careful with taxis: you may pay 10 times the right price, so check for the fare per km - look at the small square paper plate located in the lower corner of the rear doors' windows. The best company is Triumph (Триумф). Good other taxi companies are , OK Trans (OK Транс), Varna (Варна), Alpha taxi (Алфа такси). Typical prices should be  around 0.79 leva (0.40 euro) per km

Rental Cars

If in Vrana for more than couple of days, or staying out of town, renting a car may be a good option. There are numerous companies based at the airport or Top rent a car is the one we usually use and it's good value.

Our favourite places

Eat, Drink, Party and be merry

Bulgarian people are very sociable. They love to go out for a drink or coffee with friends and they are perfectly capable of just chilling on a beach and partying all at the same time.

Bar Cubo
If you want something cosy, with a nice atmosphere, cool people and funky music then Bar Cubo is just the place for you. Located near the sea, Bar Cubo is one of the most preferred places by the citizens and guests of Varna. You can sit on the sand while enjoying a cold drink and good music, plus the mojitos cost as little as 4 euros!

Horizont Club
Horizont Club is another popular spot that locals and tourists love to visit. The music is good (mostly house), there are parties there every weekend and the drinks are at a decent price. The club hosts local and international DJs. The lobby bar has a large garden terrace with sofas and canopies lit by candles.
