Accommodation & Travel
KEY DATES
We recommend that you stay for a minimum of 1-2 weeks to maximise your stay and see as much of South Africa as possible, however we completely understand that not everyone will have the ability to do this.
The main celebrations for our wedding will take place between Friday 13th - Monday 16th December 2024, followed by a selection of optional events that will run until Saturday 21st December 2024.
We recommend that you fly in no later than Thursday 12th December 2024 to enjoy the main wedding celebrations.
GUIDANCE
You will need to fly into Cape Town International Airport.
It is more expensive to fly direct to Cape Town, but it can reduce your total travelling time and make your journey easier. Most direct flights with British Airways start at around £1,000 and go up from there.
If you choose to stop over in a different country, you will save a few hundred pounds but it will add to your total travelling time, so please bear this in mind.
It is cheaper to book directly through an airline, rather than through a third party website.
You can use websites like Sky Scanner to find which airlines fly to Cape Town from your home country and figure out the best and cheapest route, and then book directly through the chosen airline(s).

VISA REQUIREMENTS
Please check the requirements for your home country to see whether or not you will require a visa to travel to South Africa and arrange accordingly. Please let us know if you have any questions around this or require any assistance and we will do our best to help.
ARRIVAL
We will do our best to have someone meet and greet you at the airport and transport you to your accommodation. Please let us know the date and time of your arrival.

If travelling with infants, be sure to request a bassinet to make your flight more pleasant and enjoyable.

If you want to explore Cape Town on your own and choose not to attend the optional events, here are some suggestions on the best ways to get around.
Rent a Car: Cape Town is rather spread out and with many things to do around the Cape and beyond, so we recommend renting a car.
Petrol stations accept both cash and credit, but not all. There will be a sign outside telling you if they accept credit or not, but it’s a good idea to always have some cash on you just in case. You will also need small change for tolls on major roads.
Uber: Uber is one of the best ways to get around Cape Town. The distances between most of the top attractions are short, making it a cost-effective option for your trip. You can also request a ride from Cape Town International Airport by using the free WiFi.
My CitiBus: Another affordable way to get around the city is with the My CitiBus service. You can buy a transport code from one of the stations and top it up as you go. There is a free app that you can download that lists the timetables for each stop, fares and a route planner.
If you are staying somewhere other than Cape Town, please find a list of reputable taxi companies below.
