Our Story

The day I saw Nick walk by my desk in October 2015, I think I might have knew then. I can still remember that day so vividly, the purple shirt he was wearing, and all the conversations I had with my work girlfriends of "who was that?!".

Although, it wasn't until March 2016 when it all fell into place with Nick and I. March 26th we went to see a coworker play in a band with a large group from work, and even there we still hadn't acknowledged one another. It wasn't until we all left the venue to continue the night in Patchogue was when we found ourselves having our very first real conversation alone. The way we spoke felt as if we have known one another for years, I almost forgot anyone else was around in such a crowded bar, he filled that night with the most laughter I had in a while. From then I will never forget how you can have music FOMO and never enough vodka sprites. My life was forever changed in a single night.

Nick and I became inseparable since that single night to the point where we would have to convince ourselves we should go one day a part. Each day that passed Nick had truly shown me a love and kindness I had never experienced. It's true when they say people just "click". We clicked. Instantly we had a mutual respect and love for one another.

Fast forward to being in our first apartment with two puppies later. Our hearts along with our little family are ever growing and we can not wait to officially become the family we always wanted.

The Engagement

I take birthdays pretty seriously. When Nick suggested we go on vacation to the Bahamas I immediately thought of my birthday weekend. So, because of my selfish thoughts, that's what we did. We left for the Bahamas on 9/19, two days before my 28th birthday.

Once we got to Atlantis all seemed pretty normal, checking in to our hotel room was another story. Nick didn't think our view was up to par, so in Nick fashion we headed back down to the front desk to request a room change. Only because I'm lazy I sat in the lobby while Nick worked his magic with the Front Desk Staff. Unbeknownst to me he was explaining the special moment he had planned and wanted only perfection, in the nicest way possible. Our room had been upgraded and all was good in Nick's world.

The first and second day we relaxed by the pools, beach, had some adventures, gambled and ate at all different restaurants. Not knowing, the second day he went to go place a bet on football, we was confirming the plans for the next day. The third day, we woke up to go swim with dolphins, my only request for the trip. We get ready to head down to Dolphin Cay and check in for our appointment. Again, lazy Amanda is sitting outside while Nick handles all the paperwork, still nothing out of the norm. And still not knowing that he's explaining to the staff what he has planned. We head to change into wet suits and into a classroom and Nick complains about his wet suit so he has to go change, I don't think anything of it because it's normal behavior. Well, he was exchanging the ring with the photographer - sneaky.

FINALLY, we are in the water with the dolphins and I could cry I'm so excited. We are able to pet them, feed them, high five them etc. Everyone was called to dance with a dolphin except me, and again, don't think anything of it only that they forgot lol. Well, they most certainly didn't forget. Right before the instructor called me over to play fetch with the Dolphin, I got drenched from his splash. Then I'm told to open the toy and read what's inside. Typical Amanda can't open the toy and opens the scroll the wrong way.

Really now, FINALLY, I flip over the scroll for it to read "Will you marry me?" I turn around and Nick, in the water, is on one knee (I think). Cue the crying and utter shock that he pulled this off.
