Sightsee

Things to see

Horse Drawn Carriage Tours
Make sure you book your tickets in advance to avoid long waits!

Magnolia Plantation and Gardens
One of the oldest plantations in the South full of beautiful gardens. Also the setting for a famous scene from The Notebook

Rainbow Row
A picture perfect collection of 13 colorful Georgian houses along Bay Street and one of the most photographed places in Charleston.

King Street
Upper King Street offers fashionable and funky boutiques and casual spots for drop in lunches. Middle King Street offers upscale retail chains and local shops. Hit Lower King Street for interiors, jewelry, and antiques.

The Market
Runs between Meeting Street and East Bay Street. This open-air market has many vendors displaying handmade crafts such as sweet grass baskets, art, and jewelry, and lots of local flavor.

The American Theater
If you're a fan of The Notebook, take a picture outside where Noah and Allie went on their first date and danced in the street!

Old City Jail Tour (A MUST!!!)
This jail housed some of Charleston’s most infamous criminals, 19th century pirates and Civil War prisoners- very spooky!

Broad Street
Located near the Battery, Broad Street and part of East Bay Street has great food, and beautiful galleries for your perusal.

The Battery
Sits at the edge of the peninsula. Battery Park is one of the best places to see the Charleston Harbor. Along the Battery, you will see some beautiful historic homes and sites that Charleston has to offer.

The Aiken-Rhett House Museum
According to many, there's no better example of antebellum life than the Aiken-Rhett House Museum.

Angel Oak Tree
Visitors will find one of Charleston's most photographed icons on Johns Island: the Angel Oak Tree. It is said to be the largest live oak east of the Mississippi. The gorgeous tree is 65 feet high, with a circumference of 25.5 feet. It's estimated that the tree is between 300 and 400 years old.

Fort Sumter National Monument
Fort Sumter is where the first shot of the Civil War was fired, back in 1861. Ferry's are available from downtown to the actual fort which provides its own small yet in depth museum.

Gibbes Museum of Art
Fabulous art museum that offers something for everyone. It's not overwhelming and easy to see in a couple of hours. The mobile app is great and has a variety of tour themes while the building itself is its own work of art.

Sullivan's Island
Sitting at the mouth of the Charleston harbor – a little less than 10 miles east of the downtown area – Sullivan's Island boasts beaches, tasty restaurants and unique shops, plus a colorful history.
