Traditional Bulgarian Orthodox Wedding Ceremony
The religious ceremony starts when the couple enters the church with prayer reading from the priest and the placing of the wedding rings. The “kuma” (maid of honour) has to exchange the rings between the bride and groom 3 times. After that the newlyweds go in front of the ritual table where more prayers are read and ritual crowns are placed on their heads. The „kum“ (best man) exchanges the crowns between the couple 3 times. Main accent of the ceremony is the reading from the Gospel of John – “The wedding at Cana” (John 2:1-8). After that the newlyweds are led around the ritual table 3 times and drink 3 times each from a glass of red wine. The ceremony ends with some advisory words from the priest.
Key Bulgarian words to remember:
"Nazdrave" (Cheers): you will need that a lot!
"Gorchivo" (Bitter): it is a chant that encourages the couple to kiss. With their kiss they will sweeten the bitter moments in life.

Boat Trip on the ship "Poseidon"
A perfect opportunity to finish the wedding weekend with style! A special boat (pirate-ship) trip around the coast of Sozopol on the early afternoon after the wedding. An amazing way to chill out after the wedding and sum up the impressions of the days before.
We will cover the ticket for the ship for each guest, as well as some refreshments (water, beer) and tapas.
The ship has a full bar where you can order additional drinks and food if necessary (note that you can't pay with card there).
