Tom showed up at a 5:45am spin class taught by Stacey. After several months she decided to invite him along on the group mountain bike rides (when she thought he might be able to keep up with her). The solid friendship they developed through the miles of riding has served as the foundation of their love for adventure, exploring and each other.

Our love for the mountains prompted us to purchase a 7 acre mountain top property that had no road access...Tom and tractor to the rescue! He spent countless hours preparing for the Planning Commission to approve a 1/4 mile long driveway which he diligently and meticulously developed. Now it is the site for our future dream home and ceremony venue. We plan on building in a few years and in the meantime will live between our cabin in Chipita Park and home in Colorado Springs. The Crit Cafe was founded in 2016 by Tom and Stacey. Both are avid cyclists, craft beer enthusiasts (Stacey at least), burger lovers, and restaurateurs at heart. They started the Crit Cafe as a snack shack with a plan for a one year proof of concept. The snack shack was very popular and it became obvious that the concept was a good one, so in 2017 they (Tom) started the construction of the upper patio. The larger upper patio was completed in late 2017 and full trailside cafe concept came to fruition in 2018 when Nic (Criterium Bike Shop owner) finally attained the beer & wine license. Tom did all the design/build while Stacey got the restaurant up and running, so it's a place directly from their heart and hands- especially since this is where Tom first told Stacey he loved her!
It's hard not to laugh with "this guy"! Being on the same wavelength, we truly enjoy each other and embrace each others foibles. This is just the beginning of our life's new adventures. We are so happy that each and every one of you have been a part of it thus far. Thank you for making this day so special.
