We've known each other our whole lives, growing up together at church and our mom's being best friends.

WHEN IT TURNED FROM FRIENDSHIP TO ROMANTIC:

Tia - We both moved back to Houston from college within a year from each other and started to attend church school together so we used to see each other weekly and I used to begin to look forward to seeing him. I took the liberty of inviting him to my 29th birthday party. Unfortunately, his grandfather passed away and he had to travel to California. Surprisingly, he flew back to make it to my birthday party and he was the first one to arrive. I was so happy to see him and I realized he was special. Our official first date was Olive Garden and we went to the Movie Tavern at Deerbrook Mall to see SAW VII.

Marcus - I noticed her in church school. Being a recent graduate, out of work at the time, I was selling shirts to put a few dollars in my pockets and Tia bought one, that support was the start of our flame. From there, I built up the nerve to ask her out for a drink and now we're here. I'm glad to be entering this next phase of our lives together.

Tia - Going to the Rodeo is something we look forward to every year. I was so excited to take Mila for the first time this year until the Coronavirus struck. We went to the BBQ Cookoff this year fortunately before the HLSR officially shut down. My favorite part of the Rodeo outside of the rides is watching the baby chicks crack out of their shells!

Marcus - If you know me, you know my life is about growing and mainly agriculture. What better way to celebrate agriculture besides the rodeo? The first time I took Tia to the rodeo, she was completely surprised! I picked her up from a trip she'd taken, it was one of the last days of the show that year, but we made it and Tia loved the baby chicks. She was asking questions about all the exhibits, she liked the bunnies, and calves but kept coming back to the chicks. My favorite part is going to the BBQ Cook-off and the Hideout after Black Heritage Day!!

THE PROPOSAL

Marcus - Our engagement was a complete surprise for Tia. I worked on it for a few months, trying to make sure everything would be excellent. I knew in February I'd be proposing, just didn't know the exact day, but while we were in Denver, I decided to let Ms. Tina know that I'd be proposing for her dinner because I got confirmation that Raheem DeVaughn (Tia's favorite singer, thanks Jarvis & Sabrina!) would be at Dolce the Friday of her birthday week. I asked our families to meet for dinner to celebrate Tia's birthday. Dinner was nice, but it was at the after party where the real action was. After dinner we raced to Dolce, we made it in just as Raheem was going on stage, I had a few minutes before he went on to get the run down of when he'd bring me up for the "$500 contest" I won on the Al Rucker Morning Show. When he brought me up, Tia was completely surprised and I was nervous, but it all played out well and she said yes. I couldn't have asked for a better proposal, at the end Raheem DeVaughn asked the crowd to say "hey Mrs. Glenn"!

TIA - Soooooo....I had a feeling that he might propose but I thought that he would have done it at the dinner...just the stereotypical thing to do I guess. Once the dinner was over, he just told me that we were going to a concert. I was like okay so he isn't going to propose....no biggie. We arrive to Dolce and he's just rushing me to get inside and I'm like pregnant in heels trying to rush the best I can LOL. We get inside and I see Raheem DeVaughn and I'm like WHOA because I knew our birthdays were close to each other but I'm still not thinking anything. Then Marcus wins this alleged contest and Raheem asks Marcus who he's with and asks me to come up there. Still not thinking too much....just happy we "won" $500. Little did I know, I won so much more that night....:)

Neither of them have a fear of traveling; Tia does it for a profession and  Marcus likes to see different and new places. They've traveled to Mexico, Puerto Rico, across the south east U.S., Las Vegas and a few spots on the West Coast together. They're looking forward to more memorable trips to come.

Our lives were forever changed when Mila arrived on her terms on July 26, 2018. She is the best gift that we could given to each other and fills our lives with so much joy.
