Getting to Greece

Please do your own research in addition to the below :)

From the UK:

Flights options for people from the UK (£180-£600 return economy)
Although British Airways is often more expensive, some of their fares include luggage and might work out cheaper.
We would very much recommend booking earlier, as when leaving within 3-6 months, the price doubles, and sometimes go up to £600-800 per person return.

If you want to make a longer trip out of it- any tips on where to go before or after the event, let me know!

From AUS: Flights options for Australians.

Please engage with Tom for some top tips or advice on booking flights (espeically those from Australia).
Qantas/British Airways/Qatar/Emirates $2000-$4000 per person economy
These are the more comfortable airlines. Routes are normally via Singapore, Doha or Dubai and take 20-28 hours.
Ideally- booking 6-12 months before will provide the best price (currently $2000 if booked around now).
route examples - BNE/SYD- Dubai- Athens. Or BNE/SYD -> Singapore/DOHA-> LONDON-> Athens.
You can also look into breaking your trip up by staying halfway- where some people spend a night or two in Singapore or Dubai, which doesn’t change the price of the airline ticket too much.
Scoot airlines - Cheaper and quicker ($900-1500 per person economy)
Cheap and (un)cheerful (Singaporian Easy Jet/Ryan Air equivalent)
Although uncomfortable, it is a time-saving flight that goes to Sydney via Singapore and then straight to Athens.
As a budget airline, we found the seats to be uncomfortable, and you had to pay for food and drink during the flights.

Booking with Points/ Credit Cards
For the majority of our trips, Polly and I use Qantas Points obtained from credit cards.
1-2 times a year, we apply for a credit card each and meet their requirements (i.e., spend $3000 in 3 months)—and pay an annual fee of $200-400.
This would give us enough points for one way or sometimes a return flight to Europe (where you only pay the taxes). Effectively, a more comfortable airline flight returns to Europe for around $500-1000 each (plus cc fees).
Note- you have to book these flights ideally 6-12 months in advance.
There is a special way to book these routes, so please ask Tom if you want more advice in this area and what is the best credit card; some even get you into the lounge, and get better deals for premium economy or buisness.

I would recommend avoiding China Airlines/those that go via China or those that have more than 2 stops.
