Traveling from Airport to your Hotel

Should I arrange transportation beforehand? - Yes

There are many safe and decently priced options to ensure you get to your hotel safely. Hotels usually offer transportation but you can also book a private or shared ride ahead of time using viator or tripadvisor in case your phone doesn't work right away. Although you can find WIFI pretty easily and rides also have them.

Getting Around Phuket

Grab SuperApp, Taxis, tuk tuk, vans

There are various options available for getting around the island from "GRAB" (Thai version of Uber, which tracks rides and delivers food), local taxis and buses, You can also rent scooters/motorbikes. Hotels often can call taxis for you and have bicycles to use.

Please beware that tuktuks are notorious for trying to rip off tourists.

Vaccinations

No vaccination is required for Phuket or Bangkok Thailand. Malaria and Yellow Fever are not endemic is these areas but can take prophylaxis if would like. Typhoid is
recommended for most travelers, especially those staying with friends or relatives or visiting smaller cities or rural areas.

COVID-19

What's the current COVID-19 situation and what is needed to get in ?

We continue to watch this closely through the embassy website. As of August 1, 2022, Thailand Pass registration is no longer required for all travelers.
Travelers entering Thailand will only be required to show Proof of Vaccination or COVID-19 test results for the unvaccinated.

Phone & Internet

Do I need a Thai Sim card? - up to you

When you arrive at the airport, there are many booths that sell SIM cards to use while traveling (major cellular companies include: AIS, True Mobile, DTAC) or you can buy them later at 7-11 stores. Many places like coffee shops and restaurants have WIFI that you can use during your stay.

Grab Super App (The Uber app you need)

Please make sure to download this App on your phone to use. It is Uber and will allow you to get tracked rides and food deliveries.
