The Priest says: God is love, and those who live in
love live in God; and God lives in them. 1st John
4:16

Priest: The Lord be with you

All: And also with you.

The Priest: God our Father, you have taught us
through your Son, that love is the fulfilling of the
law. Grant your servants Petero and Miranda, that
loving one another they may continue in your love
till their lives’ end; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

All: Amen

THE MARRIAGE:

We have come together in the presence of God,
to witness the marriage of Petero and Miranda, to
ask His blessing on them, and to share in their joy.
Our Lord Jesus Christ was Himself at a wedding in
Cana of Galilee, and through His Spirit, he is with us
now.

The Scriptures teach us that marriage is a gift of
God in creation and a means of His grace, a holy
mystery in which man and woman become one
flesh. It is God’s purpose that as husband and wife
give themselves to each other in love throughout
their lives, they shall be united in that love as Christ
is united with His Church.

Marriage is given, that husband and wife may
comfort and help each other, living faithfully
together in need and in plenty, in sorrow and in
joy.

It is given that with delight and tenderness they
may know each other in love, and through the joy
of their bodily union, may strengthen the union
of their hearts and lives. It is given, that they may
have children and be blessed in caring for them
and bringing them up in accordance with God’s
will, to His praise and glory.

In marriage, the husband and wife belong to one
another, and they begin a new life together in the
community. It is a way of life that all shall honor;
and it must not be undertaken carelessly, lightly,
or selfishly, but reverently, responsibly and after
serious thought.

This is the way of life, created and hallowed by
God that Petero and Miranda are now to begin.
They will each give their consent to the other; they
will join hands and exchange solemn vows, and
in token of this, they will give and receive a ring.
Therefore, on this their wedding day we pray with
them, that strengthened and guided by God,
they may fulfill His purpose for the whole of their
earthly lives together.

INQUIRY INTO THE BANNS OF MARRIAGE:

The Priest says to the Congregation:

But first, I am required to ask anyone present, who
knows a reason why Petero and Miranda may not
lawfully marry, to declare it now….Or forever hold
your peace

The Priest says to the couple:

Petero and Miranda, the vows you are about to
take are to be made in the name of God, who is
judge of all and who knows all the secrets of our
hearts;

therefore if either of you knows a reason why you
may not lawfully marry, you must declare it now.

DECLARATION OF CONSENT

Priest: Asks the Groom:

Petero, will you take Miranda to be your wife? Will
you love her, comfort her, honor her and protect
her; forsaking all others and be faithful to her as
long as you both shall live?

Petero: I will

Priest: Asks the Bride:

Miranda, will you take Petero to be your husband?
Will you love him, comfort him, honor him and
protect him, and, forsaking all others, be faithful to
him as long as you both shall live?

Miranda: I will

THE GIVING AWAY OF THE BRIDE

Priest: Who gives Miranda, to be married to
Petero?

The Priest receives the Bride’s hand and places it in the
hands of the Groom.

Petero unveils Miranda, and facing each other the
Bridegroom receives the Bride’s right hand from
the Priest and says

I Petero Muzoora take you Miranda Zaninka
Kabatsi, to be my wife, to have and to hold from
this day forward; for better or worse, for richer
or poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and
cherish, till death do us part, according to God’s
holy law; and this is my solemn vow.

They loosen hands. The bride takes the Groom’s right hand
in hers, and says:

I Miranda Zaninka Kabatsi take you Petero
Muzoora, to be my husband, to have and to hold
from this day forward; for better or worse, for
richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, to love
and to cherish, till death do us part, according to
God's holy law; and this is my solemn vow.

The Priest receives the ring(s). He says:

Heavenly Father, by your blessing, let these rings
be to Petero and Miranda a symbol of unending
love and faithfulness, to remind them of the vow
and covenant which they have made this day;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

EXCHANGE OF RINGS:

Petero places the ring on the fourth finger of Miranda’s
left hand, and holding it there, says:

Miranda, I give you this ring as a sign of our
marriage. With my body I honor you, all that I am
I give to you, and all that I have I share with you,
within the love of God, Father, Son, and Holy
Spirit.

All: Amen

The Bride Miranda in turn places a ring on the fourth finger
of Petero’s left hand and holding it there says:
Petero, I give you this ring as a sign of our
marriage. With my body, I honor you, all that I am
I give to you, and all that I have I share with you,
within the love of God, Father, Son, and Holy
Spirit.

All: Amen

Psalms 127:3-5

3 Children are a heritage from the LORD, offspring
a reward from him.

4 Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children
born in one’s youth.

5 Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them.
They will not be put to shame when they contend
with their opponents in court.

2ND READING By Zachary Byaruhanga

Zephaniah 3:14-17

14 Sing, Daughter Zion; shout aloud, Israel! Be
glad and rejoice with all your heart, Daughter
Jerusalem!

15 The LORD has taken away your punishment, he
has turned back your enemy. The LORD, the King
of Israel, is with you; never again will you fear any
harm.

16 On that day they will say to Jerusalem, “Do not
fear, Zion; do not let your hands hang limp.

17 The LORD your God is with you, the Mighty
Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in
you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but
will rejoice over you with singing.”
