Flights

The nearest airport to Cortal Gran is Girona (40 minutes) - RyanAir have semi-regular flights (approx. every other day) from outer-London airports.

Barcelona airport (El Prat) is approximately 2 hours from Cortal Gran and there are very regular flights.

Getting to and from the events

We hope to provide transport to and from the wedding on the 30th for the majority of guests staying within a reasonable range of the venue (c. 20 min drive). We will be able to confirm this closer to the time, once we have details of where people are staying. There are numerous local taxi companies to choose from too, but again we recommend booking in advance.

For the beach drinks on Friday 29th, we suggest that you book taxis through the companies listed below (Uber is not a thing in Catalonia).

Taxi Maribel Calderón (L’Escala): 972 771 825
Ayala (L’Escala): 660 236 403
Vicenç (L’Escala): 630 672 184
Clemente Taxi Gomis: 652 619 120 / info@taxigomis.com

There is also a large car park at the beach for those selfless designated drivers.

Getting Around

Although the venues for Friday and Saturday night are only a 10-minute drive from one another, we recommend hiring a car to get to and around the Costa Brava. There are several rental options at both Girona or Barcelona airport.

For those that cannot / do not wish to drive, there are numerous local taxi companies. Please note that these will need to be booked in advance and you are unlikely to be able to hail anything down even in the local towns.

Local Highlights

If you're looking for things to do during the day on the Friday and Saturday, or planning to spend a few more days in the area, some of the below might tickle your fancy:

Beaches:

Platja Sant Pere Pescador (closest beach to Cortal Gran, enormous)

Platja de Pals (similarly enormous beach about 30 mins south)

There are lots of smaller, covey beaches along the coast (e.g. Aiguablava, Sa Riera, Calella - these get very busy so go early or expect to queue)

Local Towns:

Peratallada - 30 mins south of venue. Beautiful little town. Cracking lunch spots and lots of fancy boutique ice cream too.

Besalú - 40 mins east of venue. Picturesque medieval town with a much-talked about bridge. Worth a butchers.

Begur - 30 mins south of venue. Pretty cool castle ruins to walk around and some great spots for a caña or two. Ice cream not in short supply either.

Girona - 45 mins south east of venue. Well worth a visit for any foodies, cyclists or GoT geeks.

Please give us a shout if you need any recommendations at all!
