It was March 2018 when Matt and Tessa’s Bumble bubbles intersected. Matt had just moved to San Diego with a commitment to stay single and find himself, and Tessa was hesitantly seeing if there was anyone else good still on the market. Both Matt and Tessa had their dating profiles setup on Bumble but lived just a few miles too far apart to connect. When Tessa we up to North country to her parents house to do laundry that gap was closed and they both swiped right to start talking. After a few weeks of funny banter they decided to have a date at the climbing gym Mesa Rim, where Tessa showed Matt that strength can come in a small package.

Fast-forward 2 years and Matt decided he wanted to propose at the same climbing gym on their second anniversary of the first date. Then as 2020 took an unexpected twist, COVID shut down the gym and Matt’s hopes of the unique proposal. On that same day Matt’s brother, Aaron had a live show on Facebook and unbeknownst to Matt, chose the same day to propose to his partner Kaitlin.
Luckily for Matt, the climbing gym opened up again in June and Matt was able to surprise Tessa after convincing her to go to the gym to check out the “COVID Precautions” and see if it felt safe to climb. She may have seen it coming as she was dressed to the nines for the climbing gym, but we’ll never know for sure!
