WHat to do in toronto
While in TORONTO

Thank you for coming from near & far to celebrate with us! It means the world to us that you are coming to see us in the place we call home. Toronto has a fantastic energy in the summer and we hope to showcase the very best of the city to make your time here as enjoyable as possible.

A few things to know

Transportation

To/from Airport:
Taxi - ~$60 one way
UP Express - Skip traffic and get right downtown in 25 minutes for $8. Follow signs for the UP express at the airport.

Getting around Toronto:

Uber, Lyft, Taxis work great! You can also try the TTC (subway, streetcars - kinda charming and cheap)!

It will be a city wedding, so no need for car hire or long-distance travel arrangements within Toronto. Taxi’s or Uber’s will be sufficient. We will provide a shuttle service at the at the end of the wedding on Saturday night to a central downtown location where you will either be able to walk or take a short taxi ride home to your hotel.

Food & Drink

Restaurants

Foxley - a favourite of ours! Sweet backyard-like patio and the best small plates in the city. Unfussy but in a great area for some bar hopping!

Enoteca Sociale: Also in a great area, really nice small patio and DELISH Italian.

Piano Piano - More Italian & Surbhi's favourite. Fun and delicious - can't go wrong. Will need a reservation.

Rasa: Locally sourced ingredients and casual setting. It never disappoints.

Paris Paris: Trendy hotspot & EXCELLENT set menu for larger groups. Will need to book in advance.

Mamakas Tavern: Contemporary & elegant Greek food. Must make a booking!!

Superpoint: On the reliably fun Ossington strip, you can't go wrong with a great pizza, local beer and a fun setting.

Bar Isabel: A College Street gem,  best Spanish tapas in the city.

Grey Gardens: Casually sophisticated in the heart of Kensington Market.

Cafes/Bars

Cocktail Bar - Our favourite and recommended activity - The Dundas Crawl. Start HERE and stumble into many other fine establishments along Dundas between Bathurst & Ossington.

El Rey: Go here for an afternoon margarita and people watching in Kensington market.

Bar Raval: Our favourite Saturday coffee spot. Get the freshly squeezed orange juice and tomato toast.

Monarch Tavern: Tim's favourite corner pub (dark and low ceilings, you know the type). Bring in a panzerotti or slice from Bitondo's (Toronto institution) across the street.

Breweries: Toronto is exploding with craft beer and breweries often have the best patios on a sunny afternoon. A few of our favourites are: Blood Brothers, Burdock, Bellwoods Brewery, and Hendersons.

Other fun activities

Ferry to the Islands: Short ferry ride from the city centre (15 minutes) with a wonderful view of the city to the charming Toronto islands. There are several beaches to chose from (including a nude one!) or have lunch at the pub.

Kensington Market: An eclectic neighbourhood with great food & culture. Good for a weekend stroll.

Wychwood Barns: Our favourite Saturday farmer's market. Lots to try!

Shop along West Queen West: Nicest little boutiques with a lot of Canadian made clothing and jewellery. Try Ease, VSP, Tusk, 100% Silk, Fawn and The Wanderly.

Tim's favourites are the OVO store. Lost & Found, and Blue Tile Lounge.

Alsooo if you are planning a larger Canada trip around the wedding, do not hesitate to email us. East Coast, West Coast - we have tips!!
