Our love story

Her version:
Steph and Ty met many moons ago. Although some would describe Steph as a “GG” (glamorous Granny) and Ty as an old soul, these two met back in first year varsity where Ty courted her over a couple of tequila shots. However, it would take more convincing for Steph who was leaving on a girl’s trip to Malta a couple of days later. On her trip away, she posted a couple of photos on Facebook and although “DM’s” didn’t exist back then, the “like” button did. We’re not sure whether his like button malfunctioned but it was the flurry of likes all over her Facebook which grabbed her attention. The girls sat outside on the deck of the boat they were on and after passing the phone around and doing their own Facebook stalk, they decided that this was “the one”. It’s safe to say that shortly after Steph’s trip away and seconding a paddling race for Ty when she got back, the deal was done and their love blossomed.

His version:
Disagree with parts of the above. Steph invited me on the boat trip (under the influence, so taken lightly). This lead me to taking an interest in the trip although I did also have my eye on her. Can confirm I did hit the like button on almost every picture.
Upon her return, she cornered me in Boogies, to my delight. The rest was history and will be shared on the 10th of December.

The lead up to marriage:
Steph and Ty have shared many memories together, their university days, an international trip away to Italy where they bonded over their shared ‘foodie’ gene, coffee and lunch dates, sunrises and sunsets and many trips to the Kruger National Park – it was here, at Mjejane Game Reserve, their special place, where Ty got a wobbly knee, organizing friends and family from around South Africa to join in and celebrate their engagement. Fast track a few years and the couple now live in the Cayman Islands and could not be more excited to come back to South Africa to get married in the place they call home, with their family and friends.
