Shelly and Sam started medical school in 2017 in Kentucky. They were paired for their cardiac physical examination and the two met for the first time. Friendship came first for these two until the summer between their first and second year of medical school where they spoke nearly everyday. Once back on campus, they spent more and more time together studying, watching movies, and cooking meals together. Finally, Shelly made the first move and Sam was all in. They moved in together starting their third year of medical school. Shelly was committed to a future in anesthesiology and Sam coincidentally also found his place in the same speciality. They made the decision to couple’s match both in anesthesia and their risk turned into a big reward as they successfully both made their way to Milwaukee, WI for residency in 2021 with their new goldendoodle puppy, Alfie.
During the summer of 2023, on a hike along Lake Crescent in Olympic National Park, Sam popped the question and of course Shelly said yes!
