Aaaaatt laaasst...Shannon and Jon’s love story spans an entire decade and across the country! Their first rendezous was in the spring of sophomore year at The University of Oklahoma. Jon claims he had his eyes on her immediately! They went on a few dates but lost touch as they both began sow their own seeds through the remainder of college and their after-college lives. Shannon pursued a career in medical sales and lived in Phoenix, NYC, and, ultimately, Chicago; Jon went on to obtain his JD from SMU. Even though always living miles apart, Shannon and Jon always found themselves seeing one other through mutual friends and hangouts like OU football games and wedding festivities.
Fast forward 8 years later, Shannon was living in Chicago while Jon was settled in Fort Worth. Shannon had a work conference scheduled in Fort Worth and decided to reach out to Jon to see if he had any restaurant recommendations in Fort Worth. Jon knew she could have easily referenced Yelp! so he took advantage of the contact to catch up. The connection was instantly deep. Texts turned to calls and calls to FaceTime. He eventually asked if he could take her on a proper date in Fort Worth when she arrived. Jon picked up Shannon at the airport where he grabbed her luggage even he had a couple of bottles of water waiting for her. Shannon told her friends it felt like an episode of the Bachelorette as the nerves were sky high! Jon had their entire date planned; they shared conversation and a bottle of wine then grabbed some pizza over in the Magnolia district of Fort Worth. Neither wanted that to end, so they didn’t.
Jon traveled when he could to Chicago and Shannon to Fort Worth. Jon gained a little buddy in Abaco while Shannon gained a new love in Pearl. They shared other trips to Jackson Hole, Costa Rica, Breckenridge, New York as well as other locales. Their love grew so big that Jon surprised Shannon on her birthday NYC trip with a visit to a jeweler where she got to design her dream engagement ring and the rest is truly history. Shannon moved to Fort Worth recently from Chicago and they are very excited to begin their next chapter together (with the dogs of course)!
