8755 West Higgins Road will always hold a special place in our hearts. In April 2015, we met each other in our shared office complex while Shanice was working abroad in Chicago. In broken English, Shanice agreed to a first date at The Ram Restaurant and well... the rest is history and Shanice now speaks better English than Drew.
8755 West Higgins Road wird immer einen besonderen Platz in unseren Herzen haben. Im April 2015 haben wir uns während Shanice's Praxissemester in Chicago kennengelernt. In gebrochenem Englisch hat Shanice zu einem ersten Date in The Ram zugesagt und tja... der Rest ist Geschichte und jetzt spricht Shanice besser Englisch als Drew.
Over the next 5 years, we have endured several stints of long distance and moving locations in Chicago, but always making the best of our time spent together and traveling as much as we could.
We've had some wonderful adventures including skydiving in Germany, swimming with Whale Sharks in Mexico, hiking in the Swiss Alps, enjoying a proper pint in Britain, white knuckle 'tuck-tuck' rides in Portugal and celebrating the Cubs 2016 World Series! Chia Chia!
Über die nächsten 5 Jahre mussten wir uns immer wieder durch Abschnitte einer Fernbeziehung kämpfen, aber wir haben immer das Beste aus unserer Zeit gemacht und sind so viel wie möglich gereist.
Wir hatten wundervolle Erlebnisse, darunter Fallschirmspringen im Allgäu, mit Walhaien in Mexiko schwimmen, in den Schweizer Alpen wandern , einen "proper pint" in London und Dublin genießen, "tuck-tuck" Fahrten in Lissabon, Zelten in Indiana und den Sieg der Chicago Cubs in der Weltmeisterschaft 2016 feiern!
On December 23rd 2019, in Shanice's hometown of Singen Germany, I dropped the knee. Shanice is obsessed with the Christkindlmarket so it was only fitting to propose at her hometown market surrounded by her family and celebrated with authentic Glühwein!
Pictured on the left and dressed like a gnome is Shanice.... She was not happy about her choice of outfit for the occasion but I think she never looked more beautiful.
Am 23. Dezember 2019 bin ich, in Shanice's Heimatstadt Singen, auf die Knie gegangen. Shanice liebt Weihnachtsmärkte, also hat es gepasst in ihrer Heimatstadt umgeben von ihrer Familie, um ihre Hand anzuhalten und danach mit Glühwein anzustoßen!
Auf der linken Seite und angezogen wie ein Zwerg, ist Shanice... Sie war über ihr Outfit für diesen besonderen Anlass nicht glücklich, aber ich finde sie sah wunderschön aus.
Portugal holds a special place in our hearts. Shanice's grandparents were both born and currently live in Portugal and the Francisco family has traveled there often since Shanice was young. Between the stunning beaches, historic sightseeing, authentic Port wine, delicious seafood and Portuguese custard tarts (pastel de nata), Portugal has always delivered.
Drew and Shanice visited Portugal together in 2018 and knew this was the location to celebrate their wedding with family and friends!
Portugal hat einen besonderen Platz in unseren Herzen. Shanice's Großeltern sind beide dort geboren und die Francisco Familie sind in den Sommerferien oft dorthin geflogen seit Shanice klein war. Zwischen wunderschönen Stränden, historische Besichtigungen, authentischer Portwein, köstliche Meeresfrüchte und portugiesische Pasteis de Nata, liefert Portugal immer ab.
Drew und Shanice waren in 2018 zusammen in Portugal und wussten, das wird der Ort, an dem sie heiraten wollen.
