Flight:

Flight will be departing from JFK airport in NYC as it is the cost effective. We want to keep price as low as possible. prices are based on basic economy prices however, if you would like to be in a refundable cabin, main, comfort or business class please let us know so that we can tailor the prices according to your comfort level.

Duration of flight: approx. 10 hours (direct flight, no stops)

Departure in the Evening, arrive 4 hours prior to departure for easy check in (more information to follow).

Accommodation will be pre-booked and part of the package that will be made available to everyone. The accommodation will be shares (2 people to a room). If you would like your own room, kindly reach out to us as early as possible so that we can work together to provide you with a more comfortable accommodation. (Do keep in mind that your accommodation may not be in the same area if you choose this option. Also keep in mind that the prices will be different for this option as well.) We will try our best to accomodate everyone as we want you to be comfortable and have a memorable trip!

Group accommodation: Airbnb with a gated wall and security. The compound will come with basic necessities. African/ Tropical food will be provided as well as water. Please let us know if you have any dietary restrictions or preferences!

Ghana requires all passengers to present a COVID vaccination card before entry!

Before Travel, make sure you are adhering to airline rules and regulation.

Please get (PCR) tested within 48 hours of departure for entry into Ghana and also before leaving Ghana if required by the USA or country of origin at that time (if you are NOT vaccinated).

Upon arrival, passengers who are not vaccinated will be subject to another covid-19 test at the airport terminal. Prices for Ghana citizens and/ or for ECOWAS passport holders = $50 (subject to change)

NOTE** Children aged 17 or under are exempt from mandatory vaccination, pre-departure COVID-19 (PCR) testing and testing on arrival in Ghana.

ABURI GARDENS
Aburi is 30 Km away from Accra on the Akuapem (town in Ghana) hills at 1200 feet elevation. It's essentially a huge garden reservoir with ancient old plants and trees both of intricate stature, beauty and of medicinal properties. A tour guide is always there to take you around.

CAPE COAST & ELMINA DUNGEONS
One of Ghana's human history sites, that houses remnants of slavery, pre and post colonialism. This site has been turned into a museum to help educate both the locals and those returning from the diaspora. A tour guide is always provided throughout the day.

Kakum National Park
Take a walk through the rainforest and finish it off with a high netted canopy walk. A tour guide is always provided and the canopy walk is fun but not for the faint of heart.

Transportation in Ghana include ubers which is our preferred suggested way of getting around the city. Other transportation include local taxis, tro tro (Cheap Bus) and rental cars.

Transportation will be provided upon request to and from the airport. Please contact us if you will be needing a rental for the length of your stay. Also contact us at (scarsministryfoundation@gmail.com) if you need a pick up service from the airport to your place of stay.

What Should I pack?

Its beach weather and hot at this time of the year so anything summery, fun and don't forget your shades.

Do I need a passport to travel to Ghana?

Absolutely yes! Follow the steps in your country on how to attain an international passport for travel. Prices will depend on country.

Do I need a Visa to travel to Ghana?

Yes! You need a visa if you hold a USA or European passport. However, if you are from West Africa and hold the green Ecowas passport then you do not need a visa for entry.

How do I apply for a visa?

It's simple. You can visit the Ghana consulate in your country to apply for a visa or visit the website and follow the steps to apply for one. (Follow link down below)

How much is a Ghana Visa?

In the usa, a Ghanaian visa ranges from $90 for single entry and $130 for a 5year multiple entry visa. Prices subject to change**

Do I need any shots before travel?

Yes, you will be required to show proof of yellow fever immunization. This shot can be completed at any travel medicine center or through your personal doctor. The shot is required for safety and preventative measures to you and others.

Do I need a Yellow fever shot if I already have one?

No! If you've already had a yellow fever shot then you will not be required to take another one, however, proof is still required at point of entry.

Is transportation available to and from the airport?

Transportation can be made available on a need basis. If you need to arrange for transportation, kindly contact us via email at (scarsministryfoundation@gmail.com). Let us know you're attending this mission and would like to schedule an airport pick up service. Include your name, date of arrival, flight arrival and end destination.

Are discounts available for accommodations?

Discounts are are already included in the package which includes stay at the airbnb. (please refer to where to stay tab if you want your own accommodation or the group tab for the group housing). For a headcount, kindly rsvp on the event page.

Do I have to stay at a hotel?

No! That will be solely up to your discretion. Aside from hotels, guest houses are also available around the country. If you need assistance booking your stay please contact us via (scarsministryfoundation@gmail.com) with details on your accommodation needs and we'll try our best to find a comfortable solution for you.

How do I move around?

We will provide transportation for the planned events! Outside of the planned events, Uber will be the best mode of transportation, followed by taxis. If you would like to rent a car for the duration of stay please contact us at (scarsministryfoundation@gmail.com) with details regarding your needs.

Will there be tours/activities available?

Yes! There will be activities available throughout the week. Kindly check on the events page and rsvp. Free transportation will only be provided to the people who rsvp to each activity. (Free transportation only available for planned excursions)*

When is the best time to arrive in Ghana?

We suggest that you arrive 2-3 days ahead of schedule to enjoy our planned activities and also wean of the Jet lag if any.

Are the foods and drinks safe?

Yes! All foods and drinks are safe, however, everyones body type and digestion is different. Therefore, we suggest that you purchase foods from restaurants and drink from bottled water only. If you have visited the continent and are used to the local street vendors then you can enjoy those as well at your own discretion.

Should I pack any medications?

Yes! As precautions, be sure to pack medications you would usually take for stomach aches, diarrhea, headache, allergies and any routine medications you may already have.

Total cost if trip is $4500 per person with available payment plan options. This includes Airfare, Accommodation, Transportation, water and some meals. All pre travel items are not included ex. Yellow fever vaccine, Malaria pill (if you do opt for that option), Passport, Visa etc.

Non- Refundable Deposit: $500 (To save your spot)

1st Payment (after deposit)--April-28th ($1k)

2nd Payment- June- 30th ($1k)

3rd payment- August- 25th ($1k)

Last payment- October- 20th (two weeks before departure)--($1k)
