The Ceremony

Prior to the actual wedding, there's a gathering called the Sangeet, where family comes together to sing, dance, and revel in the joy of the upcoming union. Fittingly, Sangeet directly translates to "sung together." Each side of the family sings a traditional folk song to welcome the other, and family members may even give full-blown performances in celebration and cheeky competition.
The mehndi ceremony, a big party attended by the bride and groom's friends and family members, kicks off the wedding itself. The event usually takes place one day before the nuptials (on the same day as the sangeet), as the process can take hours. During the festivities, henna paste is used to apply intricate designs of temporary decorative art to the bride's hands and feet. While the designs usually reflect floral motifs, it's also common to hide her partner's name within the artwork and watch as they try to find it later—a process believed to reflect the amount of patience that will be present in their marriage.
We will have a henna artist present so all of our favorite ladies to get their henna done.
What better way to start our wedding day than with a traditional South Indian breakfast! Breakfast will be provided at our venue before the Baraat from 9:00-10:00 AM.
If you’ve ever watched an Indian wedding movie, or better yet, witnessed a wedding in person, you may have wondered about the significance of the merry bunch dancing around a man atop a horse (or a coupé convertible)—that, ladies and gentlemen, is the baraat. A baraat is a celebratory wedding procession for the groom involving live music and dancing. While it does not hold religious significance, it is an important custom nonetheless.
Our Baraat will promptly begin at 10:00 AM outside our venue.
Our traditional Hindu Wedding Ceremony will begin promptly at 11:00 AM to12PM. The MC for the wedding ceremony will be Krishna Swamy, who will walk the guests through each step of the ceremony.
Cocktail hour will be from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Don't forget to try Eash and Sai's signature drinks!
