Jackie Ruiz
Sister of the Bride
Jackie's mom is Gricelda's mom's sister + Jackie's dad is Gricelda's dad's brother = sisters 4 life!! Jackie and Gricelda are the only two girls out of eight total kids between their moms and dads. Therefore, they have an unbreakable sister bond. Two peas in a pod.
Frida Valencia
Cousin of the Bride
Frida's dad, Beto, is Gricelda's cousin and was a huge presence in Gricelda's childhood. The Valencias are very close to the Mendozas even through long distance (they live in Texas y'all). There is also a 14 year age gap between Frida and Gricelda but  generational gaps have not stopped these two from forming a thick as thieves sibling relationship, at heart Frida is Gricelda's little sister. For Diego's wedding she was booted for underage drinking (she was 20), therefore, we are looking forward to having Frida join us on the various toasts throughout the night... legally, LOL.
Cynthia Gonzalez
College Roomies

Cynthia and Gricelda met in the UCR college dorms (A-I!) circa 2002!! Hahahaha. OMgosh. Cynthia lived across the hall from Gricelda and Carla. They used to download a lot of music (and viruses) on Napster, play it loudly, and sing & dance in the hallway dorms.  About every other song, Cynthia would iconically yell out, "That's my JAM!" Cynthia introduced Gricelda to some real old school R&B but also some great 80s songs. Burning CDs for each other was THE thing!  There was great joy in playing CDs on Gricelda's small blue boombox.  Gricelda also liked to occasionally stop by Cynthia's dorm to watch Friends on repeat and it continued well into junior and senior years of college when they were roommates. Cynthia and Gricelda even became cat moms to Smokey who is still very much alive (he turns 18 in May). After college graduation in the summer of 2006, a very long custody battle ensued for Smokey. Cynthia has been part of so many of Gricelda's best memories - and it's only fitting she will join Gricelda as a bridesmaid on her wedding.

Vero Galvez
College Besties

Vero was Gricelda's RA in the UCR college dorms circa 2002. As a staff member and mentor, Vero helped create a supportive and safe environment for students at UCR. Vero showed Gricelda, Cynthia and Carla the way...where the parties were at, what time they started, dress code, the pre and after party and the challenges of a brutal hangover the next day. A beautiful soul with a contagious laughter, she held the key to unlocking "fun" in college. Although college was a blast - they had to grow up sometime and Vero continued to mentor Gricelda - navigating moving back with the parents, leasing cars, first out of college low paying jobs and oh- yeah the 21 and over clubs in the El Monte area. And now our thirties, which has drastically changed to advice about home projects, marriage, motherhood and the occasional what to watch on netflix - the planning to get together but not getting together, haha. However, far or close - Gricelda will always be able to pick up with Vero as if they were still at UCR- true friends por vida.  Gricelda can't imagine her special day without Vero standing by her side - and continuing to show her the way.. LOL

Carla Valerio
College Roomies
Carla and Gricelda met at Burbank High School in Physics class circa 2000? Gricelda used to walk in to class about 10 min late everyday on crutches & a walking boot from an ankle fracture and Carla's thoughts were usually very transparent by the look on her face. After a few dirty glare exchanges, a mutual friend introduced them officially to each other. Randomly they found out later that they were both going to attend UCR.  Naturally, they agreed to be freshman roommates. The young women made it through the first year, third year and fourth year as roommates without killing each other. Through the early morning smoothies on blenders to the late night benders with Shania Twain. They continued through differing life paths and various phases of growth & maturity (with Gricelda maturing at a much slower rate - LOL)  yet these two remained friends through the years. Gricelda could not imagine her wedding without Carla being a part of it.
Mona Fawal
Work Besties
Mona sat in the cubicle across from Gricelda at work. When Mona was new to the company, Gricelda sized her up... Mona then turned around and sized Gricelda up... after an exchange of dirty looks.. Gricelda invited her out to lunch with Marina and her. Mona accepted. They have all been work besties since then! Mona will give you baking tips, workout tips and makeup tips all in one convo. You can find her at the wedding running around trying to help, feel free to remind her that Gricelda said not to forget to have fun!
Marina Hermansen
Work Besties
Marina used to be a Mendoza. Gricelda and Marina bonded at work because of the curly hair, the same last name and alcohol (lets not kid). It's safe to say, this will be a life long friendship!

Lesley is Ryan's beautiful sister. When Ryan said he had two older sisters, Gricelda's first thought was "Oh man, I hope they like me and we can become super sisters, LOL". Currently navigating the ropes of being a first time mom and exceling at it. An avid cross-fitter.
Xochitl Joyce

Diego Mendoza
Brother of the Bride
Gricelda's favorite brother. Only one year part, both stubborn as hell. They've come a long way from being the 'Pulgas Malas' that terrorized babysitters, cousins and parents. Diego is about to be the father of two (who would have thought?) and now it's his turn to be terrorized by 'Pulgas Malas'.
Gonzalo Mendoza
Father of the Bride
Gricelda's dad. Aka "Chalo". Gricelda feels extremely lucky to have such a great father. This man knows everything. He is so hardworking.. worked his entire life to provide for his family and achieve that American Dream. He comes from a very humble background in Michoacan, Mexico. An avid Lakers, Dodgers and Rams fan. Makes killer birria, menudo, pozole you name it. Chalo is the man.
Ana Lucia Mendoza

Gricelda's mom. Aka "Lucha". The most beautiful kind-hearted soul you will ever meet. She loves everyone and wants to help everyone. A child at heart. She also comes from a very humble background all the way from Aguilares, El Salvador. She came to the United States as a fourteen year old with nothing but her family and made the best of it. You can find her on the dance floor with a Michelob Ultra in her hand, if she is not dancing, you should definitely invite her to the dance floor.
Ricardo Hernandez
Father of the Groom
Ryan's late father. Ricardo was born and raised in Boyle Heights, CA. A son of two immigrant parents (from Mexico) he set out to find a better life for himself and his family. He graduated from UCSB with an engineering degree. He had four children with his wife Syndee. Although he is no longer physically here with us, he will be ever so present at our wedding watching over us exchange vows. We miss him everyday.
Cynthia Hernandez
Mother of the Groom

Ryan's mom. Aka "Syndee". After Ryan's father passed when Ryan was just three years old, this mother of four became the ultimate super mom. Syndee is super resourceful and the love for her children is unconditional.  If you see her at the wedding, she would love to have a conversation with you, Syndee is super outgoing.
