It all started 15 years ago, September 2005, at good ol' Oregon State University. We were both entering our Freshman year and were introduced outside of West Dining Hall. We'd like to say it was love at first sight, but it wasn't. Fides was coming from four years at an all girls high school and Ryan was coming from the Tualatin suburbs. Fides was getting used to seeing boys on campus and Ryan was getting used to the diversity. Although there were many distractions, they did become friends and would hang out or study together - well it was mainly Fides who studied and Ryan followed along. Fides knew Ryan was a good guy when he ran to the opposite end of campus to walk her back to her dorm one night so she wouldn't walk alone (the library was opposite Fides' dorm). Ryan spent about a year and a half at OSU before moving and trying something new, and he ended up in Houston. Although nothing came of the friendship during college, fate had it that a reunion was needed.
Now jump forward to 2014: Fides is in the infancy of her pharmacist career in Portland and Ryan is making the move back to Portland from Houston, where he finished college and started working. Although there hadn't been much of a relationship during the in-between years, a good friend to both and now one of Ryan's Best Men, Alex, provided updates of each others' happenings. Ryan and Fides would see each other from time to time at get togethers during the years, but there were not many. Both agree that one of the most important comments ever made was Alex telling Ryan that Fides' number did not change and Ryan should get in touch with her to have a friend in Portland. They scheduled their first hike, and the rest was history! Well sorta.
After the initial text from Ryan to Fides saying he was back in Portland, it took awhile to get the romantic ball rolling. Ryan forgot how talkative and energetic she is. Fides forgot Ryan's attention span and how chill he is. But finally following a few, okay definitely more than a few, friendly hangout sessions, they were an official couple. Another few years passed by and more adulting was had. Both Ryan and Fides were in solid career paths with the next chapter of life waiting ahead of them. Fides bought her first home and Ryan bought his practical family car, the WRX. Eventually Ryan had enough people asking when he was going propose, so he visited Mr. and Mrs. Lim one afternoon without Fides knowing, and then proposed to her on a beautiful sunset evening in Oahu.
And that was that!
Now it's time to get married and have our forever
