Once upon a time there was a man named Terrance, and there was a woman named Raylene… neither one wanted a relationship and were NOT planning on dating or getting to know anybody new. But fate had different plans for them…
Raylene and Terrance recognized this years later. Technically they did meet each other before their first "official" meeting. One day while walking through the torch (Potowatomi Cafeteria), Raylene being the sarcastic person she is walked by with her friend and spotted Terrance sitting at the table looking down at his phone. She banged the table and scared him. She then told him to “Cheer up, you’re at work!” Terrance laughed back sarcastically, and rolled his eyes. He later told Raylene that he called her a very rude name in his head that shouldn’t be repeated...
Raylene and Terrance both worked at Potawatomi Casino. One day Raylene was having a really bad day and decided to walk a lap around the casino floor, to clear her head. One particular day, while stopping on the floor to check her work phone she looked over and saw Terrance. It wasn’t a love at first sight moment. Because Terrance being the goofy guy he is smiled at her…and then proceeded to do the robot. Any other day Raylene would have run off (you see some creepy things in that casino and it's always better just to escape)…but that day with all of the crap that came her way, she couldn't help but laugh.
After a couple of months of texting and small talks at work. Raylene and Terrance decided to meet up outside of work for the first time. What was supposed to be a simple hello…turned into a 5 hour long conversation. It freaked them both out how easy it was to hold conversations with one another, and how much they really had in common.
A few days after, a mutual friend called them out that they both had feelings for each other…which they both denied...because they had both tricked themselves into believing that they were only friends.
They had a lot of adventures together in those early days...Raylene kidnapping Terrance to go to George Webbs in his pajamas at 3am, trying to stop and beg for Raylene's car not to be towed, or when they almost got attacked by a homeless man.
One night during a thunderstorm, Terrance dragged Raylene out in the rain to dance after she said women in movies like romantic crap like that…which led to their accidental first kiss that changed everything.
One day after tip toeing around the subject of being official...Terrance said out of the blue while hanging out "I'm going to start calling you my girlfriend." Raylene completely confused by his statement asked him to clarify what the hell he meant by that. He repeated what he said and walked off. Raylene got angry and yelled at him that he needs to actually ask her to be his girlfriend. Terrance turned around gave her a kiss and walked off again.
Cooking ~ Hating bacon ~ Finding new restaurants ~ Finding new bars/lounges ~ Doing brewery tours (honestly any random corny tourist attraction with a tour they will do it) ~ Wine tasting ~ Watching trashy reality television ~ Watching Disney films and singing along in the wrong key ~ Having game nights ~ Binge watching Harry Potter ~ Arguing over the fact that Baby Yoda literally made the star wars universe worth something ~ Watching MCU movies over and over again.
After many years together, Terrance made the decision to make Raylene his wife. Terrance knew how hard it was to hide things from Raylene. So he told various lies about not even thinking about weddings, or getting a ring, but little did Raylene know, she had a big surprise in store.
On Christmas morning, Terrance woke up Raylene saying he had a present for her. To make sure she really wasn’t expecting the proposal, he gave her the first gift (a Cricut Joy!). Raylene screamed in happiness and Terrance told her to go freshen up so they could take Christmas pictures.
After Raylene was finished, she came out of the bathroom and heard the beginning notes of the song “Speechless” by Dan + Shay. When Raylene turned the corner she found Terrance on one knee in front of the Christmas tree. After screaming, and asking a few times if he was serious, Raylene happily and tearfully accepted…
