City Hotels

On arrival into Sao Paulo, Gabe and I have booked into the L'Hotel Portobay. It is a really nice 5* hotel on Avenue Paulista which is the main avenue in Sao Paulo. We have secured a rate of R$880 per night for anyone who wants to book in. The hotel will hold this rate until March 31st only. If you want to book, please email Beatriz on reservassp@portobay.com.br and mention our names.

Alternatively, Avenue Paulista has a huge choice of hotels if you would prefer to book elsewhere.

Transport to Maresias

We have arranged transport for everyone to and from Maresias for those travelling from Ireland.

Flights to Rio

Flights to Rio are cost effective and short.

Gabe & Phil are booked on the 16:55 flight from GRU to Rio GIG on Monday 28th November. Our flight number is LA3855.

Travel Notes

Weather: the average weather in November is 22°, with a max of 25°. Sunglasses, caps and sun cream will be needed.

Repellent: There are mosquitos in Brazil, particularly on the coast so pick up some repellent.

Plugs: are C plugs in Brazil, which are two round prongs.

Language: Portuguese everywhere you go with little English on the coast.

Clothing: While it is not the warmest month, the humidity can get very high. Less is best. It can rain in November but it is too warm for rain jackets.

Currency: Real is the currency and normally floats around the 6:1 mark in favour of the Euro.

Safety:  Like any capital, mind yourselves in Sao Paulo. We will generally be in a large group however. The coast there are no concerns and in Rio, for those going, we will again be in a big group.

Time Zone: In November, Brazil will be 3 hours behind Dublin.

Vaccine: You may get the yellow fever vaccine before travelling to Brazil. This can be got at the Tropical Medical Bureau. It is not mandatory but advised. Anyone who has travelled far in the last decade likely has all the necessaries but you can check in more detail here. www.tmb.ie/destinations/vaccinations-for-Brazil

Tipping: Is not required in Brazil.

Visa: You will be stamped on entry into Brazil.
