Sweta and Pareen

Who would have thought a simple introduction from one of the many Chester weddings would lead to destiny? That's precisely what took place on July 2nd, 2018.

Sweta was talking to Rishi & Heena, Pareen's cousin and sister-in-law (who is also Sweta’s childhood friend) at a wedding about "her type" in guys. Her simple description was "Someone who is a good person--that won't break my heart!" Rishi immediately thought of Pareen, and Heena excitedly agreed. They showed Sweta Pareen's photo and she thought "Sure, he's cute! Why not?" Pareen was on his couch devouring a platter of nachos when Rishi and Heena reached out to get his thoughts. Pareen reacted to Sweta's Facebook picture in her red dress with "Vare va, she's way out of my league!"

Pareen tried to play it cool and make the first move by waiting two days later to text Sweta. Several great conversations later, he was eager to meet Sweta in her hometown, Richmond, VA. After deliberating on the perfect first date idea, Sweta finally decided: lunch at a Mexican restaurant and front-row seats to a Nelly concert! She wanted to see how well they could bond over her favorite cuisine and artist! Whether or not the first date went well depends on who you ask...

Sweta coincidentally had a work event the following week in Pareen's hometown, Raleigh, NC. They decided to meet again to see if a connection was really there. During this second date, the two shared their likes, dislikes, fears, and ice cream preferences. Pareen discovered Sweta was not a fan of lighting a match from a matchbox. That night, he helped her put this fear behind her, which sparked a match made in heaven.


Sweta is from Richmond, Virginia, and Pareen is from Raleigh, North Carolina. Over the last 2.5 years of knowing each other, they split their time between Virginia and NC and traveled the globe together. Due to the current pandemic, Pareen had to propose in an intimate, secluded location.

The luxurious facilities of Primland Resort, nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains at the border of NC and VA, was the ideal spot. Sweta loves taking pictures and continuously teases Pareen in his reluctance to capture the moment. For their oh-so-perfect proposal on February 7, 2021, Pareen arranged a private photography class which ultimately ended up in a surprise proposal overlooking the mountains! Hundreds of pictures later, the couple had a private dinner in the Wine Cellar, featuring a custom menu designed by Pareen.

The most challenging part of the entire ordeal: keeping it a surprise from Sweta---absolutely nothing can get past her! Pareen’s nickname for her: Swetective
