What is a Sangeet?
The Sangeet is where the party begins. Think a "rehearsal dinner" for traditional American weddings, but bigger! The point of the Sangeet is to get all the guests together, and celebrate the upcoming union of the happy couple as well as their friends and families. Often, guests will perform during the Sangeet for the couple, and of course there will be an open dance floor later in the evening.

Formal Indian attire is recommended, but not required. The ceremony will be outdoors, so please keep in mind that it may be chilly.
What can I expect for the ceremony?
This will be a traditional South Indian ceremony. There will be lively music, and the ceremony will last roughly 2 hours followed by an Indian vegetarian lunch afterwards.
How is the ceremony structured?
The ceremony begins with the baraat, which is a groom procession with live music and the guests on the groom's side making their way to the mandapam (alter).
