Welcome to our love story! It all started in 2013 where we met as bright-eyed college freshmen at Carnegie Mellon :)
We became close friends in the first few months while studying the same major & forming a group of mutual friends. Towards the end of our first semester, Kunal officially asked Nikita out!
Throughout college our bond grew stronger through shared experiences in surviving classes & internships, exploring our careers, and of course, going out with friends!
We also created memories in different places together including NYC, Seattle, Vegas, Mexico, & Puerto Rico -- a trend that stuck around ;)
Upon graduation, we were excited to see how our relationship would evolve as Kunal headed to Seattle to work at Microsoft, while Nikita stayed in Pittsburgh with Deloitte.
Even though we were more than 2,500 miles apart, we found creative ways to see each other as often as we could!
As a consultant, Nikita chose to be staffed on West Coast projects so she could travel to Seattle, and Kunal was able to work remotely so they could meet up in different cities.
Eventually however, both of us wanted to be in the same city & progress in our careers -- so Nikita decided to move to Seattle too!
We had an amazing time in Seattle with many memorable experiences -- hiking the beautiful mountains, boating & camping in the summer, snowboarding in the winter, and getting through COVID with our best friends.
Work also kept us busy with Kunal transitioning to the fast-paced startup life & Nikita working on major acquisitions. We moved in together for the first time which made it easier to support each other throughout!
After a solid 3 years, we were ready for the next adventure.
In 2022, we took the difficult decision to do long distance again - Kunal stayed in the US finishing up his MS at Georgia Tech, while Nikita moved to France to do her MBA at INSEAD.
Yet again, the distance didn't hold us back! Instead we took the opportunity to explore Europe & Asia together -- becoming wine connoisseurs in France, experiencing a music festival in Croatia, feeding elephants in Bali, exploring food & temples in Bangkok, and adventuring through Vietnam, South Korea and Singapore.
9 years after asking Nikita out, Kunal finally decided "yea she's pretty cool" and on July 6, 2022 - we made it official!
Kunal spent 3 months planning his proposal for Nikita & recruited his family and some of our best friends to help with the surprise.
Luckily, she said yes!
You'd think that after covering almost 30 countries together, we would have explored the world enough...but nope! We enjoyed our adventures so much that we decided to move to Amsterdam in April 2023 and keep the journey going!
Kunal joined the Payments team at Adyen, an international fin-tech firm, while Nikita joined the robotics team at Picnic, a supply chain company re-thinking groceries.
Our escapades continue to this day and we're excited for where our journey will take us next! :)
