After months of planning during the pandemic lockdown and swearing family and friends to secrecy, Max pulled off one of the greatest surprises to Nicole of all... On November 13th, 2020 Max asked Nicole to spend forever with him. Nicole knew they would be going on a "picnic" during a weekend getaway trip to Santa Barbara, but when they got there, a bohemian set up over looking the pacific ocean completely distracted Nicole from noticing Max’s nerves. Not until Max got down on one knee did Nicole realize what was happening. After instantly saying "YES", the surprises kept coming. Nikki, Max’s sister and the officiant for our wedding, appeared out of the nature preserve's trees where she was secretly taking photos of the proposal for them. Later that same weekend Nikki and Lawrence hosted N + M’s families on Sunday for a surprise engagement brunch in Malibu.
Needless to say, Nicole's lucky day has always been Friday the 13th and now will forever be Max's as well.
Why Hawaii?
When N + M met, they quickly bonded over their love for Hawaii as both grew up going to the Hawaiian Islands with their families. Several trips to the Islands together later, N + M fell in love with Maui as a couple after attending their friend Cat's (Nicole's Bridesmaid) wedding to Alex. When the search began for a wedding location, the two always knew they wanted to celebrate in a special destination. The history and beauty of Olowalu Plantation House made their decision even easier. And to seal the deal, after booking their venue, both of their Dad's (Mark Loynes & John Mallett) realized their venue was in fact just off Mile Marker "14"!
