All About the Groom
Nicholas Allen Prymek was born on August 14, 1988, to Dan and Diane Prymek in Des Moines, Iowa. He is the youngest child in his family and has two older siblings, Megan and Mike. Nick grew up in Des Moines. Nick comes from a long line of Union Laborers and joined the 'family business' in 2010 when he accepted a position with Iowa Lecet, a labor management trust fund. At Iowa Lecet, Nick works in compliance and marketing for the laborer's union and their signatory contractors.
Nick's favorite color is red and his favorite food is popcorn. He loves the Chicago Blackhawks, duck hunting, fishing, and his beautiful fiance. He also enjoys golfing, movies, and car races.
All About the Bride
Valerie Ann Foote was born on November 5, 1987, to Duane and Janet Foote in San Diego, California. She has two siblings; an older brother, Douglas, and a younger brother, Gregory. Val grew up in Naperville, Illinois. She went to college in Tennessee and following her graduation in 2009, moved to Iowa to begin law school. Val graduated from Drake Law in 2012 and currently practices workers' compensation defense law at a firm in West Des Moines.
Val's favorite color is green and her favorite food is soup. She loves music, travel, event planning, and DIY projects. Her obsessions are her dogs and her handsome fiance.
Our Love Story
August 25, 2013 began like any other day. Val and her friends went out to their favorite spot for cocktails and dancing. Unbeknownst to her, Nick and his friends were headed to the same place. In fact, Nick and Val both frequented that particular downtown hangout every weekend, but had somehow never met one another. They'd later piece together that they had seen and talked to each other's friends- but more on that later. On August 25, 2013, the bar was preparing to close. The DJ was playing the last few songs of the night, and Nick was preparing to leave to head home for the night. He was on his way out the door when he looked back at the dance floor- and something caught his eye. It was Val on the dance floor! (What really caught Nick's eye was the florescent green hat she was wearing that said "awesome" across the front- but more on that later) Nick turned around and headed back in, making a bee line for Val on the dance floor. They shared the last two dances of the evening, and when the lights came up, they exchanged phone numbers and went their separate ways. Neither knew that their lives would be forever changed from that chance meeting! Almost four years later, they're preparing to head down the aisle!
The Proposal
10-10-15 was the best day! It's the day that Nick asked Val to be his wife, and-
spoiler alert- she said yes.
Here's the story of the proposal.
Autumn is Val's favorite season, so it was inevitable that she'd drag Nick to a pumpkin patch and corn maze at some point in October. On October 10, 2015, Nick suggested that they head out to the pumpkin patch in Winterset, Iowa. The drive out there was strange- Nick was barely talking, and Val assumed that he was quiet because he wasn't enthused about all of the fall fun at the pumpkin patch. Little did she know, he was trying to rehearse in his head how to pop the question!
They arrived at the pumpkin patch and Nick suggested that they explore the corn maze first. They entered the maze and proceeded to get really, really really lost. Nick claims that he knew where they were the whole time, but Val isn't the best with directions. She was trying to find her way back to the beginning, and Nick stopped her a few times to tell her that he loved her. She thought this was odd, but was more intent on finding her way out of the maze! Suddenly, Nick realized that she had nearly found her way back to the entrance, and decided "now or never". He said "I have something to ask you." Val turned around and Nick had dropped to a knee. He says that his mind blanked at that point, because he had apparently worked up a whole speech in his head but just blurted "will you marry me?" and held out the most beautiful ring that Val had ever seen. Val was completely taken by surprise- so much so that she didn't immediately answer 'yes'... she burst into tears instead and asked Nick, "are you sure?" He laughed, they hugged, she cried, she said yes somewhere in there, and they walked out of the corn maze an engaged couple. The shock still hadn't worn off for Val, so she suggested going out to the pumpkin patch. They walked over and got in line to take the tractor ride out to the pumpkin patch when reality set in a bit. Val turned to Nick and said "wait a second, we just got engaged, what are we doing here?! I have to call my mom!" They left the pumpkin patch that day without any pumpkins- but with a fiancee!
Happily Ever After
Can't wait! What we're each looking forward to most about the wedding and our lives together.
Would it be appropriate to just say 'everything'?

Angie
Maid of Honor
V: Angie is more than my best friend- she's like a sister to me. We met on our first day of high school when we were freshman starting out at a new school and we conquered the awkward struggles of our teen years together. We haven't lived in the same state since we graduated high school, but have maintained our closeness through countless phone calls, visits, and vacations. We have made so many memories and have always been there for each other through laughter and tears; thick and thin. The day that she met Nick, she immediately gave her stamp of approval- and I knew for sure that he was the one. I can't imagine anyone else standing beside me on my wedding day!

Erin
Bridesmaid
V: Erin and I met in high school, but it was one of those fast friendships that felt like we'd known each other for our whole lives. We were inseparable. When I went off to College in Tennessee, Erin was the first person that took a trip to visit- because being apart felt like I was missing part of myself! Throughout the years, we've had to live with some geographical distance between us, but I love that she is one of those friends that you can pick up the phone and fall right back into step with. Erin is one of the sweetest, funniest, caring people that I know. She brings out the carefree teenager in me as we reminisce about our high school days and countless inside jokes. I am so excited and honored to have her be part of my wedding day!

Lacey
Bridesmaid
V: Lacey and I are cousins that grew up near each other and close in age- so naturally, it was like a built-in best friend. As we grew into adulthood, as many familial relationships tend to become more distant, Lacey and I became closer than ever. I was so excited for every holiday or family get-together so I had a chance to catch up with my cousin. Now, rather than waiting for the next holiday, we plan weekend trips to visit one another. When Lacey was in Iowa in summer 2015, Nick even confided in her that he was planning to propose. Although a secret like that surely drove her crazy to keep, she kept it! When I called her to tell her that Nick had proposed, we both cried, and I immediately asked her to be a part of our day. Lacey is such a beautiful person. She's clever, creative, and one of the most loyal friends I've ever been lucky enough to have. Nick and I are both so honored to have her in our bridal party.

Monica
Bridesmaid
V: When Monica was born, I remember being so excited. I was at that age where babies were the coolest, and although I had always begged my mom for a baby sister, I somehow wound up with a brother instead. From the beginning, I thought of Monica as the baby sister that I always wanted but never had. As we grew older, I started to babysit- I still like to think that I was her favorite babysitter. When I got my drivers license, I would pick her up sometimes and take her out shopping or to the movies. Before I knew it, she grew into a teenager, and I got to enjoy a whole new relationship with her- as more of a friend and a peer than a little kid to watch over. Monica is now a college student at Ohio State, and I couldn't be prouder of how far she has come. I still think of her as my little baby cousin, but also get to enjoy hanging out with her as a friend. It's a perfect combo! Watching her grow up has been such a joy, and I'm incredibly proud of the young woman that she has become. Nick and I are both so excited for Monica to be part of our wedding day!

Sydney
Bridesmaid
V: Sydney and I have been two peas in a pod since the day we met in law school. We have always bonded over being Illinois girls captive in Iowa- and an added perk of our friendship is that we can carpool home to visit our families! It feels strange to go a week without talking to our seeing each other. Our lives always seem to be in step with each other's... we both got engaged to our soulmates in the same year, and we're both going to be brides in the same year! Sydney is such a sweet friend and has always been a true blue gal pal, supportive of my accomplishments and a listening ear whenever needed. Her energy and optimism are contagious- and I'm so excited for her to bring that to the wedding party! It means so much to both Nick and I to have her be a part of our wedding day.

Caitlin
Bridesmaid
V: Caitlin and I met in passing a few times during my first year of law school, but it wasn't until the summer after that our friendship really blossomed. I was studying abroad in France and Caitlin came to visit another student in the program, and her and I quickly realized that we were on the precipice of a beautiful friendship. Fast-forward to a year later, and Caitlin had moved to Des Moines. A year after that, she began law school, and we selected one another for the law school mentoring program, so that I was her mentor and she was my mentee. Although, Caitlin didn't really need me to show her the ropes of law school- she's so bright and friendly and energetic that people are drawn to her, and it didn't take long for her to get acclimated to law school life and surround herself with friends. Caitlin also loves to plan events- and we co-hosted quite a few parties while in law school. Following law school, Caitlin moved to Texas. While I was so sad to see her go, I was so proud of my little 'mentee' for being brave enough to take such a risk and jumping in head first. She was immensely successful at the practice of law in Texas, as I always knew she would be, but recently she found a job in Des Moines and decided to move back. I can't even describe the feeling of elation when I heard the news. Having Caitlin around just makes life better- her energy and optimism are contagious and the world feels like a better place for her being in it. I'm excited for her to bring those vibes to the bridal party and for her to be by my side on my wedding day!

Kale Van Bruggen
Officiant
V: We are so excited and honored to have our close friend Kale as our officiant for the wedding. I met Kale in 2009 when I started law school, and a wonderful friendship quickly blossomed. Kale was my partner in crime, my law school 'husband', and remains one of my favorite people in the whole wide world. We have had some of the best adventures together! After Nick and I got together, I was so excited for him to meet Kale- and the two of them have gotten along famously since they've met. Having Kale as our officiant is such a special and meaningful part of our day- as soon as you meet him, you'll understand why! His enthusiasm is contagious, and it's impossible not to have fun with him around!

Megan
Personal Attendant
Sister of the groom

Lorelai
Flower Girl
V: Lorelai is the daughter of my eldest cousin, Amanda, and her husband Maik. I think that makes her my second cousin?? Regardless, how stinkin' cute is she?! Seriously. It has been so much fun to watch this little cutie grow up- I look forward to seeing her at every family gathering! Nick and I knew that Lorelai would be a perfect addition to our wedding party. It's also extra special because her mom was in my parents' wedding! Nick and I are so excited to have Lorelai be part of our day.
