Our story starts with two right swipes a couple of weeks before the pandemic changed the world. Monica mentioned her cheesecake in her dating profile so naturally we had to start our conversation talking about that and the rest is history! We went on our first date at a local "speakeasy" a couple of weeks later and got to squeeze in one more non-COVID date before everything was shut down. Monica soon came down with what we now know to not be COVID but at the time, the ongoing joke was that the first thing we ever shared was COVID. Monica self-quarantined, my work travel came to a halt and we became socially distant quaran-buddies. We kept each other sane while working from home and got to know each other really well in the process. A couple of weeks later began the socially distant quaran-dates – hikes, picnics, walks in the county park, visits to her high school playground, virtual movie dates, and sunsets at the beach. We connected from our very first date and have yet to run out of things to talk about. We shared stories, laughs, our aspirations and our fears and soon realized that what we had found was a once in a lifetime thing...

We escaped the cold in NY and spent a week exploring the outdoors in St John and St Thomas, USVI. We've always enjoyed watching the sunset together so I didn't think anything of it when Simar suggested a sunset walk on Magen's Bay Beach. Little did I know what he had planned! As we walked towards the cliffs looking out at the water, I saw a romantic little table set up for a couple. The next thing I know, Simar was down on his knee and asking me to be his partner in life!
