Duration of Stay: We recommend allocating 1-2 days to explore Bishkek. This duration is ideal to experience the city's main attractions without feeling rushed.

Ala Too Square: The central square of Bishkek, Ala Too Square is a hub of activity and a starting point for exploring the city. 

State History Museum: The State History Museum offers a deep dive into the nation's past, from ancient times to the present day.

2024 World Nomad Games in Astana: Looking ahead, the 2024 World Nomad Games in Astana (now known as Nur-Sultan) are not to be missed. General Travel Tips (Currency, Language, Safety, etc.)

Currency: The Kyrgyz Som (KGS) is the local currency. It's advisable to have some cash on hand as not all places accept credit cards, especially in smaller establishments and markets.

Language: While Russian and Kyrgyz are the primary languages spoken, English is increasingly common, especially in tourist areas. Learning a few basic phrases in Kyrgyz or Russian can be greatly appreciated by the locals.

Local Cuisine: Kyrgyz cuisine is a delightful experience, with a mix of Central Asian, Russian, and Chinese influences. Do try local specialties like Beshbarmak and Manti. (We'll try to come up with a more detailed food guide ahead of the wedding!)

Transport: Public transport in Bishkek includes buses and marshrutkas (minibuses). Taxis are readily available and relatively inexpensive, but agree on a fare beforehand. Alternatively, there is also the Yandex Taxi app, which is the local Uber.

Connectivity: Wi-Fi is commonly available in cafes and hotels in Bishkek. Consider purchasing a local SIM card for better connectivity during your travels outside the city.
