Hey everybody, Mike here. Libby and I wanted to share our story with you and she's tasked me with writing it because I'm clearly awesome. It's not a long story, but we think it's a wonderful one because it brought us together and changed our lives for the better. So without any more preamble, here's our story. We hope you enjoy it and thank you for joining us on our special day.
It was a cold day in February 2017. I was at a wedding for my friend (what I would soon find out was OUR friend) Colter. I sat at a table in the basement of Lino's restaurant in Rockford. Alongside me were several friends I hadn't seen since high school and it was fun getting to catch up with them.
Out of nowhere this woman in a black dress, came running up to the table and engaged in friendly chitchat with my friends Eric and Sarah. I had noticed her earlier in the night and was smitten. There was something about the way she moved about the room and, above everything else, her beautiful eyes and smile. Her whole demeanor and look captivated me. I couldn't take my eyes off of her. Alas, she was not alone and I was nearing the end of a bad relationship of my own. So approaching her was out of the cards.
Days later I reached out to Colter and asked who she was. She had made such an impact on me and I'm not afraid to admit I stalked (in an adorable way) her on Facebook for a few minutes. ***Libby here! Michael forgot to add that I had also been drawn to him when we happened to be at our friends' house a couple months later, and I had also done some mild Facebook stalking :)
Fast-forward a couple years (almost to the day) to me scrolling through an online dating site and I came across a familiar picture (see above). I was elated when I realized it was her, this radiant beauty from Colter's wedding. Unfortunately, in my excitement I accidentally clicked past her picture- and once you do that it's a whole process to find someone again. Finally, after a half hour of clicking through a bunch of nobodies, there she was again. I messaged her and asked her if she remembered me from Colter's wedding. *** Libby again... He also forgets to mention that when I had logged on, I had every intention to delete my profile. But, when I saw a message from this guy that I had been interested in a couple years ago, I decided to keep it active to see how this went. After enthusiastically replying to his message, the guy didn't message back until the next day! I figured he had changed his mind, until he finally replied. After a full day of messaging and both of us casually mentioning that we didn't have plans that night, I made a move and asked him out on a date that night. Dinner turned into closing down a bar before finally saying good night. The rest is history!
Two years into knowing this woman has been an eye-opener for me. I've never known someone so caring and loving as she is. She's such a beacon of strength not only in her life, but her son's and now mine. She makes every day worth living, and I've found a new meaning to life by being a part of her small family. I am so honored to be here and be accepted by her and her son. I love them both so much, and I can't wait to continue this journey together.
Here's to the future!
