Aldrick Fordham
Best Man
Aldrick and I have been tight since we were little babies in pampers! I remember every other weekend during the summer asking my mom if I could go to Jamestown or if Aldrick could come over to the house for a week. We use to have a time of our life, battling each other in Madden or NBA Live all day (yea that's old school) or playing basketball and having him bully me, because he was like 7 ft and I was like 5 ft. I mean I could go on and on about our time growing up, but I must say I appreciate this brotherhood we have created!
Tyson Mention
Groomsman
Tyson Tyrese Mention, my little brother, aka "Mike Tyson". Quick story, Tyson got the nickname "Mike Tyson" from my dad and I. Tyson was a fighter as a baby, but he did not fight fair lol. He used to headbutt or bite me anytime he felt as if he had an opportunity to take me out. Which till this day makes sense, because Tyson is definitely an opportunist. That mentality has allowed him to accomplish a lot overtime. But, one thing I will remember Tyson always has a master plan up his sleeves and if you know him, you can attest to that.
Desmond Sumpter
Groomsman
Desmond aka "Mr. President" is like a little brother to me. Throughout our time growing up at home Des always wanted to hang out, regardless of what was going on. Even if he was too young to get in, he still wanted to be there. I was like that older cousin that all the aunts were okay with you hanging out with. So, for Des I was that free pass for him to stay out late. Once Des enrolled at Winthrop, we got closer and I begin to serve as like a mentor to him. Seeing him progress through college and accomplishing so many great things in life showed a lot of resilience. He definitely has now become a cousin that I even look up to for advice.
Jeremy Cox
Groomsman
Jeremy has been one of my best friends since the good ole days of Carvers Bay. Jeremy and I became friends in like 9th grade and honestly I couldn't even tell you how it happen. I'm sure it had something to do with our sister Angela, as she is known for connecting people. Jeremy and I were involved in variety of activities in high school that kept us connected from sports, same classes, spring break/ prom weekend, man the list goes on and on. Even after high school, we remained close, taking road trips from Winthrop to USC-Aiken or vice versa on random Thursdays. It makes no sense now, but back then it was all for a good time! This type of friendship is what we all need in life.
Charvis Starks
Groomsman
Charvis is one of the calmest and laid back guys I have ever met. I remember before I met him, Bree was telling me that her brother was very chill and he was not one of those over the top big brothers who will try to intimidate you. However, I still did not believe her, I was like of course she is going to say that she doesn't want me to be nervous. But, when the day came and I met him, she was actually telling the truth and he was so laid back. It was to the point that I felt like I knew him for years. Definitely looking forward to great times with the bro-in-law!
Michael Jackson
Groomsman
Mike Jack and I met back in 2010 at a Kappa Interest meeting. However, our connection of becoming brothers did not begin until Fall 2011. During this time I learned a lot about Mike and his passion for making sure everyone stayed connected. Mike is a person that makes big moves in silence. He is not a very vocal individual, but if you know Mike you do know that he has a great sense of humor and a caring personality. He is one person that I must say I can always count on to come through if I ever needed anything.
Chad Manhertz
Groomsman
I met Chad in 2013 when I first moved to Charlotte through some mutual friends. Over time Chad and I became close friends, co-workers, neighbors and later business partners. Chad was one of those guys that made sure I was connected within the city during my first year there, which is something I can't thank him enough for doing. Those connections allowed me to increase my network and also meet some great people who have become some of my close friends. Chad then decided to take his talents to DC for grad school and left all of his Charlotte friends. But, even with the move, our friendship did/have not changed.
Jonathan Holston
Groomsman
Jonathan aka "Holston" and I met in 2013 through our mutual friend Chad. Since Holston and Chad were already close friends, it made it easier for me to really fit in with them. Throughout my time in Charlotte, Holston became one of my closest friends. Since he was already established in the city and had a great network of friends, I was able to blend right in and develop some long term friendships with some great people. Our friendship really became tight in 2016 when Holston was one of the key people who helped me organized a large vacation of about 70+ people to the Caribbean. In which I must say it was not easy at all, but we had a ball in Jamaica. At that point though, I knew he was a friend I could always count on!
Terance Dawkins
Groomsman
Terance and I met back in 2009 at Winthrop University. I'm not 100% sure how we, but knowing us it was more than likely at a UP house party. We had mutual friends, so anytime it was a party going on all of us would link up. After our freshman year, we decided to be roommates, which would last for another 3 years. Man the memories at the #260, probably known to have the best house parties in WU history. During that time we built a bond, he became like a brother to me. Which was quite ironic, because we really become brothers after pledging 2 of the same fraternities. Terance, is the one friend who is always down for the cause though, no matter what it is. So, if anything pops off , he will be ready. That boy from Sparkle City!!!
Deshawn Smith
Groomsman
Deshawn and I also met back in 2009 at Winthrop, through Terance. I'm pretty sure this occurred at some type of pregame or maybe at a UP house party. When I first met him, I already knew we were going to get along just fine. Our friendship got tight during our sophomore year when we became PBs in AKPsi. Then that following year, Deshawn, Terance and I became roommates and we moved off campus into #260 also known as the #KappaHouse. Over time I have learned that Deshawn is the type of guy who is always willing to do a road trip, no matter where we are going Atlanta, DC, or a 10 hour car ride to Miami. . .He is with the sh**s. Actually, one of the road trips we took was to a party at USC Columbia, in which that was the first time I saw Briana! Now look at us! So, I definitely want to give my boy a shout out for the assist. Also, please be aware that Deshawn is the Petty Meme King, so always be alert!
